Please get her to a vet immediatly!!
Cats use their tails for balance and this is a vital function for them to live a healthy life..
If a tail has to be amputated, please make sure she is under the care of a vet and she will need some rehabilitaion to function again, due to the fact that she has had a tail and relied on it for years..
Good luck and see the vet..

Definitely see the vet. Tails can be salvaged, but the cat must be taken in to a vet as soon as possible. Cats are fully capable of living without a tail, but the vet has to see it!

The best thing now for your cat is to probably get your cat's tail docked. It will stop any pain or discomfort that your cat has with her tail, and it will stop it from flopping around!

It sounds like she may have nerve damage. You really should get her to a vet to make sure that she's not in any pain. They may want to amputate her tail. If it's just dragging around, eventually the skin will get raw and may cause infection which can spread to the rest of her body. Please take her to a vet.

You can put a splint on it and wrap it but you would have to get one of those collars to keep her from trying to take it off. But the best thing to do is to get her to the vet ASAP for she is in pain and needs meds and checked to be sure that everything else is OK.
