When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)

old and new testament for esc929

The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." (Luke 12:47-48 NLT)

I agree with you. Religion has no right to enforce anything upon anyone.

I find it beautiful that you follow the beliefs of your tribe. Just so long as you have had the opportunity of receiving a reasonable education and ideologies are not forced upon you.

Religion and spirituality are a means to an end. They provide a seasoned guidepost for all who will listen to understand life's more complex plans. But the questions. Those you must answer alone. Life is filled with roadblocks, quagmires and trails, both oft-traveled and not.

Good luck to you. Follow the path of your choosing, no one else's.

No i don't believe that's OK ..but i also believe you cant judge someone by the religion ( weather their black, white, native American, or any other race) that would be like them saying because you still fallow the traditions of your ancestors that your wrong or theirs something wrong with you.And we both know their isn't . religion is a personal thing and no one has the right to judge anyone Else's personal beliefs.
I was just wondering what tribe you are? growing up in Oklahoma and having many of my family married to Native Americans i know a bit about the spirituality and traditions of certian tribes of Native Americans especially if they are of a tribe that's got a large number of people still residing in Oklahoma.

God has given all men free will to follow Him, not other men. We have a relationship with GOD regardless of man. For example, in school did you take classes and learn the subjects: Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Smith, Miss Consecki, Mr. Urapiti? NO! You learned History, Math, Science, Economics, et cetera. I would worship Christ no matter where I was, what oppressed me or what misfortune I suffered. Men have so many faults. The bible should be shared, not forced upon others. The ultimate choice is between you and Your Creator. Choose ye this day whom you will serve. I SUGGEST the living Savior Christ. If you reject Him, that is your choice, my friend.

With love,

It is wrong for anyone to try to force their beliefs on anyone else. How can anyone be "forced" to believe anything? You might force them to SAY they believe what you want them to believe, but that isn't the same thing as really believing it, is it? Do you know anything about the real Jesus...uh, the Guy the Book is about? Do you think He would behave that way? I don't.

Come to think of it, I don't think He would have had anything to do with the enslavement of the black race, or the murder of the Indians. Why do you call the people who participated in these horrors "Christians"?

I'm not much informed about tribal laws or traditions, but I do have to wonder...if your tribal law enjoins you to behave in a certian manner (i.e., love your enemies, for instance) and you behave in a totally different manner (i.e., use force on people to make them do something they don't want to do), are you then obeying tribal law and custom? Just wondering, here.

Christianity as a faith feels like it is on a rescue mission. If you believe that faith in Christ is necessary to be saved and have any scrap of compassion for your fellow man at all, only a complete jerk wouldn't try to save as many people as he or she could. That is why Christians try so hard to spread their religion.

As for blacks and native americans, I will agree that they were treated horribly by the Christian Europeans. Thankfully, they were able to distinguish Christianity from the actions of some Christians. Jesus himself was a man whose only prejudice was against the wicked, and even then he was more than willing to reach out to them. As a religion that teaches the equality of all men in the eyes of God, it was just the faith that many in these two groups were looking for.

I do believe it is wrong for people to force their religion on others, in the past because of this, the world lost so much history from other people. People can choose to follow christianity under pressure, or they can choose to follow it out of their own will, because they find peace in the religion. What happened in the past is in the past, it doesn't always influence our future.

No, other religions tried to force thier religions on other cultures too. The Aztecs enforced their culture and religion on the conquered Indian tribes. It's only a matter of determining if the religion is right or nonsense.
