Ezek. 23:20 (NIV) "There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses."
Ezek. 23:20 (KJV) "For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses."
Look how the Amplified Bible attempts to clean it up:
"For she doted upon her paramours there, whose lust was sensuous and vulgar like that of asses or stallions."
And the New Living Translation tries to cover it up further:
"She lusted after lovers whose attentions were gross and bestial."
The same Christians who would be appalled if such statements appeared in a book that their children brought home from the library, see nothing wrong with it being in the Bible! In fact, I'll bet that 99% of them don't even know it's there. The Bible is vulgar, violent, and should be banned from the shelves to anyone under the age of 18. I won't be surprised if this message is deleted for its content.

Haha, I love how people are saying that the Bible isn't vulgar and I'm taking the verse out of context! They probably didn't even read the verse, or don't understand it. If there were a TV show in which a character said, "He's hung like a donkey and ejaculates like a horse!" you'd all be shrieking to have it taken off the air, but because it's in the Bible, you see nothing wrong with it.
And don't bring up that stupid "the dictionary is evil, too" argument because it doesn't hold water. The dictionary has a different purpose than the Bible, nobody claims it was written by an infallible, loving, kind, sweet deity.

I do agree that there is a lot of disturbing, vulgar, and not very "family values" oriented stuff in the Bible. When I read the Bible it seems so obviously written by uncivilized men that I have a hard time understanding how some people still think it is the divinely inspired word of God. I think if it came out today the folks at places like Focus on Family or Concerned Women for America would be working overtime to have it banned from school libraries.

Most verses like that need to be read in context to be properly understood. I personally can't do that right now (because I don't have a Bible handy), but lots of verses like that refer to either sexual immorality on the part of one woman or the unfaithfullness of Israel as a nation.
The Bible is a real book that deals with real events, people, and moral issues, and it DOES take a certain amount of maturity to handle some of those issues. Your post, on the other hand, remind me of a ten-year-old who looks at the word "assume" and says, "Huh, huh. That says @$$!" Grow up, look at the bigger picture, and try again.

I don't think the Bible's claim is that of a preschool story book. It is indeed God's word, and it is hard core for those who can handle it.
I think you will surprised to find in this forum 99% of the people DO know it is in there.
Shame on you for picking out the "mature" content. My brother used to do the same thing with National Geographic when he was 9!!!

It's not vulgar. It's people opinion if something is vulgar. All the profanity was invented by humans, including the word I type now. Saying that the Bible is vulgar is just oen's own opinion, not a fact.

Well, vulgarity is subjective. Is something which is true, being recounted, vulgar? Maybe it depends on the context. If a witness is recounting a crime in a courtroom, it could be aweful, but not considered vulgar. If it is in a "holy" text about love and morals, and you have children read it, I think that is vulgar.

Song of Songs is erotic poetry that many Christians would want to ban from libraries if it didn't come from the Bible. There's a double standard among the religious in this regard, definitely.

you're taking the scripture way out of context.
the bible is our key to salvation, to eternal life in heaven, jesus is the way, truth & light.
just like people say jesus drank wine, if you read & study into the bible, he drank grape juice.
people turn the bible around, learn & read what they want, understand it the way they want. call a pastor at a church, & have them explain what this scripture means.
the bible is the greatest LOVE LETTER to us from the lord.
did u forget that he was crucified on that cross for you? yes you.
he was beaten, tortured, hung on that cross for even u. did u know that b/4 u were even born, the lord knew u? he called u by your name? he knew u when u were being formed in your mom's womb? if god didn't luv us all, with an unconditional love, do you think he would of let his ONLY, son to come to this earth to die for us? he sent us his only son to give us eternal life, a choice to go to heaven. read john 3:16, romans 8:28.
if satan can get you to doubt only 1 part of the bible or even a scripture, he's already deceived you.

In the Bible, different animals can symbolise different characteristics or qualities. The *** can symbolise strong sexual desire.
Also,a person,a nation or a congregation of persons dedicated to God who make alliances with the world or who turn to the worship of false gods are called in the Bible "prostitutes".The prophet Ezekiel was referring to both the ten-tribe kingdom of Israel and the two-tribe kingdom of Judah who were being denounced as prostitutes in this symbolic manner because they had committed spiritual fornication.
The greatest harm and misinterpretation comes when Bible texts are taken out of context.
The Bible is not designed to offend the sensitivities of anyone. That is not its purpose. It contains accurate and sometimes detailed accounts of passed events both positive and negative to serve as examples for us today. It shows what blessings can be attained if one is obedient and loyal to Jehovah and what maledictions are bestowed on those who choose to disobey.

Bible is not vulgar. You just have a need to argue. You can see that from the early on we have had immorality among us and Bible just warn us about it. God's word is as good now as it has ever been. His word is valid forever.
