Good point! This is probably one of the most intelligent comments I have seen on here. And Yes I agree. Whether atheists or believers, we're all collecting, or following, or worshiping something or someone!!!

Good question. I am not sure. I wonder if those that worship the celebrities are religous at all. Perhaps if they were, they wouldnt fall so heavily into the idol worship of celebrities?! Just a thought.
I was more religious as a youth than I am now......but I still loved to 'star watch" certain actors or musicians. I wasn't obsessed, but I did like to know more about them. I thought of it as more curiousity than worship. I wasn't so into it that I cried and fainted at concerts. I admired, but in my own quiet way. I am not sure if it was because I was religious and didnt need to fill that void.
I would guess each person is different and has different needs and reasons for doing what they do.

I think that, as children, we looked to our parents and other adults to lead us, guide us, teach us, and take care of our needs because we were completely helpless to do so ourselves. Many people, as adults, just can't let go of those comfortable feelings of being taken care of, so they imagine that there is a "higher power" that can do so, to replace the parents who no longer do it. The clever and crafty among humanity have been able to take advantage of this desire, creating religions that promise a reward of endless, mother-like comfort for those who do as the religious leaders tell them, which includes believing what the religion's holy book says. Any questions are typically met with "Because God (or the Bible or the Quran or whatever) says so," just as a parent might say to a disobedient child, "Because I said so!"
As for your contention that "God loves worship"--haven't you ever wondered why? Imagine being God, living for all eternity in...wherever it is that you live. You are perfect, you are complete, you have no need of anything, because need and desire imply a WANTING of something, and if you WANT something, that means you don't have that which would make you feel complete. Now, why would God need or want your worship? Why would he feel incomplete without it, if everything he desires was always present from eternity? For gajillions of years, he existed without human worship--now all of a sudden, he wants it? What for? Is he nothing but an insatiable egomaniac, desiring the endless praises of others in order to be happy?
It would seem that way, since the Bible describes him as a jealous God, becoming enraged when others don't pay attention to him, insisting upon a thousand sacrifices a day so that everyone is constantly reminded of him, demanding that everyone offer praise and worship and songs of thanksgiving or else he'll visit them with horrible punishments. THIS is the kind of deity you love to worship? You wouldn't tolerate another person who behaves in such a selfish, demanding, egotistical manner, and I hope that you wouldn't marry such a person, but you think it's okay if God behaves this way? Why not pick one that isn't so blindingly focused on itself?

Human being really has the tendency to workship , and this is an Innateness in us , but it's a great false to workship anything other than God "ALLAH" the only God in the universe ,
look , God talked about the prophet "Abraham" in the Quran as follow
"Thus did We show Abraham the kingdom of the heavens and the earth that he might be of those possessing certainty . When the night grew dark upon him he beheld a star. He said: This is my Lord. But when it set, he said: I love not things that set . And when he saw the moon uprising, he exclaimed: This is my Lord. But when it set, he said: Unless my Lord guide me, I surely shall become one of the folk who are astray . And when he saw the sun uprising, he cried: This is my Lord! This is greater! And when it set he exclaimed: O my people! Lo! I am free from all that ye associate (with Him) . Lo! I have turned my face toward Him Who created the heavens and the earth, as one by nature upright, and I am not of the idolaters"

I do agree that as human beings we tend to idolize and we do it from an inherent need to worship. I also agree that most of the times it is misdirected, the receiver of our reverence being undeserving. But I also think that what sustains our very souls, the craving for association and bonding (even if it is of a pseudo-realistic nature) is firmly rooted in faith. Faith or belief can be religious or irreligious or semi-religious, but as long as the personal ties with one's faith do not get severed, we benefit enormously.

No, NO, NO
God does not love worship. People who worship or idolize something/someone do it because they are stupid, not because of God. You are not suppose to create idols in Judeo-Christian religions. It is the same as worshiping the golden calf.

I think that we as human beings are indeed created in the image of God.(The one TRUE God) therefor it is in our genetic makeup to recognize things that are praiseworthy accordingly. As far as a need to worship i cannot say that the worshipping in itself is a need but it is the point where desperation for answers to our daily lives eventually leads us when all else fails.

I think that any being who would create something simply to be worshiped by it is a sad sick pathetic being.
What if we humans looked at our children in that way?
