or any of our senses we use to interpret the world around us this is not a question of community i understand the choices of some deaf and the desire to continue interacting with their personal environment more a question of where does the tradeoff end and begin on how we SEE the world

those most experienced in this area probably can't see your question to answer it. i think you can't miss what you never had so losing it would be harder than never having had it in the first place.

I know people who are deaf, and people who are blind, (not both) from birth. Definitely better to not remembering hearing or seeing! And BTW...blind people can access computers through talking computer systems such as JAWS where the system reads everything on the screen.

For me, it would be to have had sight, then to lose it. If you never had sight, then you don't know what you have missed. The same with your hearing. I would rather to never have had my sight or hearing than to have had it and lose it.

I think it would be worse emotionally(for me at least) to be able to see and then not see than to not ever be able to see.
