Anxiety and stress can definitely make you think things that are not true. They can so overwhelm your thought processes that you have no idea what is or is not true. They can actually lead to physical illness. If things are that bad for you, you should try to find some help to get your anxiety levels under control. It is possible. Start with your family doctor.

First of all, I wouldn't make any rash decisions. The problems with your boyfriend are most likely a symptom of stress. I would attend counseling if you can. Since you're a student, you can most likely get it for free at your university. I know mine had a program for the students wanting to be counselors, but just having someone to talk to about this stuff help tremendously. I would recommend trying to talk to someone other than your boyfriend, though, because it will probably just upset him. As for the job, go to career networking sites. Once again, universities are a great resource for that. I'm sure you'll eventually be able to find something. Make lists of all the things you do well, motivate yourself. Remember the things you have to offer a company. Sometimes it's not a matter of not being good; you just haven't found the right employer for you yet.

Yeah it can. The mind is a very powerful part of us and anxiety/low self esteem are very difficult to get a hold on at times. I am having counselling at the moment and find that this is the best remedy for taking control.

yes... stress and anxiety can make you start to second guess yourself and make you panic into thinking the worst about people and situations... quite often you may find that you have overreacted for no apparent reason & become emotional in all the most inappropriate places at the most inappropriate time...
...if things continue, you become totally paranoid.
change the trend when you see the early warning signs.
take time for yourself, to do the things you want, NOT what's expected of you...
...if things persist, talk to your priest or doctor, they will be able to help you tackle the things that you are finding difficult.

Yes. Definitely.
But not puzzling to me anymore. I used to be anxious that I was going to be fired. Since those years (95-96), I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) a pre-diabetic condition. It was what was responsible. I have now worked for that company for over 11 years. Never was there any hint of me being fired.
Check out www.hufa.org on the symptoms page. If you have some or many of the other symptoms, you may want to ask your doctor for some tests to rule low blood sugar out.

I think it definitely blows the smallest things out of proportion. I have quite bad anxiety and sometimes for example when i go to bed it might pass through my mind that my family will eventually die. I can't stop thinking about it and have panic attacks and cry myself to sleep because i feel like i would not be able to function without them, but when I'm in a rational state of mind i know this situation would be very upsetting but of course i would be able to survive without them. I would be very sad but i could carry on looking after myself. This is just one example, i feel that anxious when I'm out shopping for example that it feels like i could die, of course I'm not going to but try telling me that at the time!!!!!! if you want help with anxiety, last week i went to acupuncture and I've had the best week I've ever had in 5 years! I totally recommend it, I'm like a different person, i can't wait till tomorrow for my second treatment. Good luck and i hope you find your answer.

Yes - it absolutely could. Stress can affect the mind in powerful ways. I would suggest you seek some help (counselling, relaxation) for your anxiety so that it doesn't get out of control.
