Ok I'm going to answer in a objective manner since I presume that you are of a religious/spiritual background or a total conservative family. I have lived with my mate and was not legally married and we did so because it was convenient and cheaper. But note, it was just the same as getting married. We were about to get married in two months anyway when we did that. So look at it like whats the difference!!! It s a way of knowing truly knowing someone! Whats better knowing them before you are stuck in what can turn out to be a horrible marriage. No I'd rather live with them and then get hitched that what me and my husband did and it worked. It's the different number of religions and conservative groups that make it out to a lifestyle bewteen heaven and hell. People need to do what their heart desires and not live with fear of what the "people" think or say about them!!!

We lived together for a year before we got married. While we were engaged. I think it was because we wanted to see how the other person is really like on a daily basis. Kinda test to see if we could live together. See how bad the others little quirks would bother us. Things like that.

Some people are afraid to commit. They try living together to see if they truly enjoy being with that person. Waking up to that person. Going home to that person. Marriage is more permanant and tougher to get out of...once your married, your assets are combined. It's harder to leave with what you came into the relationship with. Now everything you own is your spouses, everything is 50-50. And it's tougher if you have kids!
Some people just have bad habits that no matter how much you love them, you can't picture yourself forever with them. Maybe they eat in bed or cut their nails in bed or something or they are not trustworthy or unfaithful, and that after your married, it's too late to change your mind and you have to go through a divorce and it is costly, timely and sometimes ugly.
