Chocovic or Michel Cluizel.
As a general rule chocolate found at grocery stores are bland and flavorless. Try a gourmet chocolate and you'll know what I'm talking about. This is especially true for chocolate bars (vs. truffles.)
Chocovic is a great low cost gourmet chocolate. In the US it is occassionally found at Trader Joes for under $2. Online its a bit more but still much more affordable than the an Amedei ($12 a bar). Chocovic makes 3 different bars each using a single type of cacao and therefore have a unique but delicious flavor. Personally I think the Chocovic Ocumare is the best, but then it should be. There are very few types of cacao that generate a richer, fruitier flavor than the Ocumare.
Michel Cluizel is a bit more at $5-$6 a bar. It is generally available at gourmet shops around the world. They've been at it for around 60 years and know what they are doing. Many consider their Los Ancones bar the best in world.

Well - I think it may depend what you want to do with it.
If you are just baking with it, Ghirardelli semi-sweet or bittersweet will be just great.
If you need it to melt, use semi-sweet.
If you are just eating for the joy of eating chocolate, My personal favorite is Plantations chocolate with at least 60% cacao.
For eating, other great tasting ones that won't kill you to spend five dollars are Vosges, Michel Cluizel, and I think you can even find Scharffen Berger bars at nice grocers in the baking area.

It depends on whether you want quality or quantity. I am extremely partial to Dove dark chocolate. It comes individually wrapped in a big bag. Just one of those is satisfying because the chocolate is so rich.

If you're baking, then go for ghirardelli. It's the best.
