At a public library, the computers in the children's area are usually filtered however, as the parent, it is YOUR responsibility to monitor your child so ask the youth services librarian.
That being said however, Libraries are not supposed to censor information, they are designed to provide it.

You can keep them safe by the security guard that walks around the cpu. At least here they have a security guard walking around making sure everyone is doing something library appropriate.

some of the libraries have blocks to certain sites.try recomendding something at the library's site or the next community meeting.

most library have internet set so that certain things are not able ie porn site and places where chatting can go on ,,,check with your library,,,, and if they have nothing see about getting it started there

the library shoulds have all of the bad websites blocked and if it doesn't then you shoudl tel them too or trry and talk 2 the library people

Educate them. When kids are not allowed to learn about something, it makes them really really interested in learning everything they can about it. Maybe if everyone wouldn't allow kids to learn Chemisrty, say. Then the US would have the best Chemists for the next 5 gererations. Its when the kids DON'T learn things that they get into trouble in life mostly.

most libarys have filter on there computers that block out that bad stuff check with ur libary to make sure they are doing that before any of your kids use there pc's
