aww, poor little thing, she's probably still trying to figure things out, i would continue to help but maybe consider having her trimmed up in that area, long haired cats can get messy (mine did when she was a baby) but she learned quick and does a good job now (lol)

you may need to put the kitten on a high fiber diet, this is usually recommended for cats with irritable bowel syndrome or other stomach disorders that causes diarrhea,
Being eight weeks old the kitten should be out of the habit of momma cat cleaning up after her.
A vet appointment probably might not be a bad idea, she could get a thorough physical and have her stool checked for worms or parasites, this may also be the problem.
Has the kittens diet changed from where you you bought it , change in diets can cause diarrhea.

Persians are finicky kitties! I had the same problem with mine in the beginning. Her poop was very runny when we first got her, it was because the breeder was feeding her the wrong kind of food, but she wasn't cleaning up after herself either, it was because she didn't feel good. But that's Persians. Keep cleaning her up, talk to the vet about her runny poop, and depending on her weight you may want to give her a tiny bit of Kaopectate. That should clear the runs right up.

Some suggestions: 1. Get a larger litter box with more room - many litter pans are too small. 2. Fill with a little more litter so its deeper (about 2 inches). 3. Trim the fur around her butt with scissors. 4. Give her a bath to get her good and clean (cat shampoo ONLY). Also when you take her to the vets, be sure to schedule her to be spayed by 3-4 months old if she is not already spayed.

just be patient, all kittens are messy at first. the mother cleans them for six weeks and they have to learn to do it by themselves. cats are the cleanest animals i know of. she will want to keep clean. and don't bury her poop in the litter before she does or she will stop doing it. all my cats were like this. 8 weeks is very young. usually, and some states by law, kittens can not be sold before 10 weeks old. good luck-julie

did you get it from a breed or pet store?? if from a breeder I suggest calling them - repuatable breeders will stand behind their cats for the life of that cat.

if you got it from a pet store I wouldnt be surprised.. pet stores sell the LOWEST quality of animals (obviously since why else would the breeder sell them to a pet store instead of selling them themself, why would a good breeder hide behind the pet store???)
pet store pets are often inbred - and not raised properly - born bred solely so somebody could make money off of them
trim the bum hairs or have a groomer do this for you...help educated people to NEVER NEVER buy from pet stores... ask the store if you can return the kitten

trim the hair around her butt. The poop shouldnt be runny. if your feeding wet stop it may be too rich for her causing liquid stools. Plan old dry cat food is best with the occasional treat.

How old were you when you learnt to clean up your ****? And you get to use paper - imagine how reluctant you'd be if you could a) get your tongue close and b)had to lick your own pooh to get your bum clean.

Be a little patient it'll figure it out.
