America will not HAVE a future,if the ILLEGAL INVASION is not STOPPED!!! We ALREADY have laws against ILLEGAL immigration.they are just not being enforced!!! We have laws against companys hiring illegals, but law enforcement tends to "look the other way". What NEEDS to be done,is to have those laws ENFORCED!!! Every employer of illegals, should be FINED,JAILED,and have their businesses and assets SEIZED!!!

I don't know the chances on this happening, but I would like to see all the illegals given a chance to become legal as long as they pay taxes (and penalties for every year they did not while in the US) and have clean criminal records. This country was founded on the concept of taking in the unwanted, unwelcome, and disadvantaged of the world in order to give them a chance to contribute and succeed where they would not have the same chance in their homeland. I say that if you make an honest effort and obey the laws, you should be afforded the opportunity to improve your life and that of your family.

As to where things are going, I think that the US will attempt to restrict illegal access to the US, but it will be a futile effort. The current proposal to build a wall or barrier along the southern border with Mexico is a ridiculous idea. After the years of effort and work that went into finally getting the Soviet Union to tear down the Berlin Wall...we now want to build a wall. Talk about hypocrital.

I think America has to wise up. There isn't going to be a quick fix by closing the borders. That isn't going to help at all. Here's a thought. How about the US allows them to stay, makes getting a visa easier, and collects taxes? If America enacts stricter laws, more and more people will get angry. There is a thin line here that, if crossed, could cause retaliation. That retaliation could grow into a full-scale war. I think, eventually, American politicians will figure it out and the problem will be resolved in a more accepting manner than enacting stricter laws and harsher punishments.

You want my thoughts? America is the greatest nation on earth! We the people are going to remember which senators and congressmen voted for an unwanted amnesty. We the people will vote our hearts and conscience when election time rolls around. We the people are the true leaders of this country, this is guaranteed by our constitution, that is the purpose of the individual vote. We do not need stricter laws, we need effective enforcement of current laws! If we dont get border security and effective immigration enforcement from the current government, we the people will vote in a new Governing body which will comply with our demands for security and freedom. NO AMNESTY! NO SURRENDER! WE THE PEOPLE WILL REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!!

I think it has gotten out of hand. Most people when they think of illegal immigrants automatically turn to the Mexicans. We get illegals from all over the world-yes mexicans make up a large number of them-but they are not all of them. If you try to illegally immigrate to say a European country they dont allow that and will turn you away. I think that you should be legal in our country. You should get the proper Visas or citizenship and English should be learned(I am not dissing any spanish speaking person-I mean this for any foreign language).

Well, at the rate the Senate is going, basically what's going to happen is that you're going to have to learn spanish, and you're going to have to lock up your house, because they feel disinclined to do anything about the massive influx of people, if anything they're aiding and abetting, although they'd never CALL it that, that's what it breaks down to. Be safe, be smart, lock your doors, don't leave a lot of valuable stuff laying around in plain view, especially the portable kind, vote in recall elections if/when possible, but be prepared to see exponential increases in foreign faces....also, try and join up with neighborhood watch,
keep an eye open for who's in your neighborhood, the INS has a hotline, that kind of thing...

i think that yes amnesty is going to happen. weather we believe it or not hispanics and other illegal folks do help support our already struggling economy. deporting 11 million illegals is unrealistic and dangerous. what would we do with all the orphans of these deported illegals left behind. even though everyone believes illegals do do not pay taxes is wrong. they use made up ss number which is wrong. they file their taxes and do not get a refund of course. what happens to that money is beyond me. if the irs is using that money what will they do after its gone. the us is already overspending , how can we afford to spend money on deportation and then support children left behind plus who knows what kind of riots we might have. it terrifies me.i believe the problems we have are the us governments fault and they need to get off their asses and come to some sort of agreement about reform. we need to make all illegals pay back taxes and fines for entering the us illegally. then make them pay again for applying ofor amnest. then make damn sure our borders are covered and no more ppl come

starcent - the reason poor immigrants are limited in all developed countries is that their education and services are subsidized by those with more money even when the poor pay all taxes. We don't want to pay for them all. We don't want an undue amount of poor immigrants in our overcrowded underfunded schools slowing education for our own children. The wait is long because it is a great deal for the poor who can get in. However, the benefits are only free to THEM. We pay for them. Now our schools and services are so overburdened our own children and elderly can't get adequate care.

Why don't you and like minded folks pass the hat and get money to pay for their education and health care, instead?

As to what will happen with the laws, I don't know. I only know that employers who benefit from excess migration of low income workers should be providing them with their education and health care, not us.
