I mean, it would be one thing if they ran on even a single original idea, but the Dems don't even have a platform! Well, I guess you could say they do, if "the other guy is wrong" is a platform. All they do is say "we shouldn't have done that" but they never offer any ideas of their own. They should be called the 20/20 hindsight party. Although when looking back, they STILL often get it wrong. I'm glad we didn't have a Dem in office the last term and a half, or we'd be missing skyscrapers in ALL our major cities. Crying "can't we all just get along" won't work with a terrorist.
So tell me, what "ideas" are the Democrats recruiting you with these days? Oh, and one little catch... don't use "the other guy is wrong" or "we shouldn't have done that" as your reasons, because that is the cop-out of a weak mind.

I appreciate all of your responses, even you Democrats who resorted to name-calling because you couldn't think of anything else to say. And to the poster who said that the Dems released a plan last week, I say... how timely of you! You finally came up with a plan last week! Ha!

I would consider myself a Democrat. The reason? Easy. Democrats are a liberal party. The platform is much more accepting of everyone. If you don't look, it does appear that all they say is "we shouldn't have done that". However, upon closer examination, many of the people opposing harsh measures such as a ban against homosexual marriage and a ban against abortion are Democrats. Democrats as a party have a tendency to be pro-human rights and equality for all and anti-war and hatred. The true Democrat would be a person who is accepting of everyone, protects the home front, and doesn't leap blindly into war. Granted, many of the more recent Democrats have not been able to live up to the Democratic ideal. However, you register Democratic in order to place your primary vote amongst a group of people who are working off the same base ideal you are. Many people don't understand this. For me, the Democratic party represents a type of freedom the Republican party can only guess at. It represents a group of people dedicated to calling people people, no matter what they look like or who they sleep with. They protect our homeland, starting with the Earth we walk on. That is why I'm a Democrat.

Original Ideas are not the strong suite of the Democrats. What they do represent is a popular mood best represented by Hollywood liberals who are entertainers first and intelligent people second, not necessarily in any particular order.
It is easy to see why so many people are registered Democrats, sociologically speaking we tend to be whatever our parents were. This is again showing a lack of clear thinking but when it comes to American politics who does think clearly?
Even the Republicans continue to offer the same old tired crap spending money on needless projects, seeking always to be re-elected instead of governing.
We have now fought a war on drugs for nearly thirty years and keep pouring money into that loosing proposition but we don't come up with real solutions. We build more prisons instead of removing the cause of so much drug activity, mainly money which the political parties seem to worship and which also drives the economic engine that is America.
Ask yourself why are you continuing to wallow in the worn out political dogma of the past, why not seek a newer world that looks for answers and solutions.
Don't be a lame Democrat or a fake Republican be a Libertarian and find solutions.

To me it has nothing to do with being a Demo or a Repub. It has to do with what issues do they address and how does it impact me and my family. Sometimes just going with one particular party is not enough. I think if you ask a lot of republican right now about Bush, they would say the regret ever having Him in office. Does this make the Demo, a better person next time? I can't say that it will, if the issues that they address are going to help me and my family, then thats gonna be where my vote goes. So lets not down any party about their ideas. Lets look at the issues and what would benefit us the best.

Yup like ALL politicians they do nothing then pass laws near elections that sound great but do nothing.
The most recent example, the decency bill.
ALL democart and republicans just try to make good sound bites because most Americans do not vote and even the ones that do are most likely to vote for who was on the news last.

Hear you go idiot, or might I assume that you got somebody to type your rant, and you can't read, I would draw you a picture but Yahoo don't allow that. You call me without a clue but you voted for the worst president ever. Here is you plan.
WASHINGTON - If they retake control of Congress, Democrats will act quickly to increase the minimum wage, lower prescription drug costs and slash interest rates on student loans, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Saturday.
The ideas are part of the Democrats' new domestic agenda, named "New Direction for America," which the party rolled out during the past week. Pelosi, D-Calif., used the party's Saturday radio address to promote the plan.
"A new direction means expanding access to affordable health care for Americans. We will begin by lowering the cost of prescription drugs by putting seniors ahead of pharmaceutical companies and HMOs," Pelosi said.
"A new direction means broadening opportunity by addressing the soaring costs of higher education. We will begin by making tuition tax-deductible and cutting the interest rates of student loans in half."
Pelosi also pledged to improve security, reduce dependence on foreign oil, maintain Social Security and oppose deficit spending. Under the plan the minimum wage would rise from $5.15 to $7.25 over two years, the interest rate on student loans would be cut to 3.4 percent and Democrats would approve a "pay as you go" budgeting rule.
Most of the ideas have been part of Democratic talking points for months but, facing criticism that they lack a cohesive message, the party is regrouping them as a platform to run on in November's midterm elections. Democrats hope to regain control of the House and Senate, which would take a gain of 15 seats in the House and six in the Senate.
On Iraq, Pelosi said: "2006 must be a year of significant transition. It is time for a new direction in Iraq."
She didn't mention that there's significant disagreement among Democrats on when to begin withdrawing troops.
Pelosi's position on the Iraq timetable — "at the earliest practicable time, the United States must begin the responsible redeployment of its troops," she said — is not shared by everyone in the Democratic caucus.

Liberal/Democrat viewpoint:
"I disapprove of what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it" (attributed to Voltaire)
Conservative/Republican viewpoint:
"I say let's do it. Let's repress them. ... Frankly, I'm not a big fan of the First Amendment." (Ann Coulter)
As you can see we don't care about a SINGLE idea. We are all about many ideas and that includes yours too. No matter how utterly stupid you are.

The better question is how can someone be a republican when they are corrupt, ruthless and do not care about American people nearly as much as they care about corporate money?
