birds have small bladders, she didnt go on purpose it was time for her to go, they cont hold it like people or dogs when its filled up it comes out usually about every 5-7 minutes. Get her wings clipped and feed her things that she would like. Get her toys for her cage and talk to her. Also dont put her near any electronics like microwaves or TVs and not near the kitchen in a living room or den is good, not close to drafts, if you get her wings clipped she can walk around on you without you having to worry about her flying into walls or windows or sinks or toilets. good luck

They poop all the time, get used to it :-O, it's not nerves. You will have to change the paper at least every other day.

Don't wear something fancy when the bird is flying about. I placed a cloth on my pc chair because my budgie likes to sit there. I just clean it weekly.

As far as confidence, it takes patience and time. A smart bird will train it's owner the other way around:-) I know when my bird wants seed or wants her cage door open.

Good luck, they can be very friendly. Take every moment when you pass by the cage and give eye contact and chirp or talk to it.

It will take time for the bird to get used to you. Budgies are very social and will do better as she gets used to you. Have you put a mirrored toy in her cage? This will give her another bird to "talk" to. Sit near her cage and talk softly to her on a regular basis. Once she no longer flinches from your presence, gently lift her onto your finger by pushing her off the perch with your finger (this is finger training). Younger birds will take the training.

Covering the bird at night will provide some security. I have a regular bed time for my canary, and uncover him about the same time daily. He really likes it when I talk to him every day.

Be consistent, be gentle, be patient.

Good luck!

The poor thing may have been mistreated. Speak very gently to her and play soft music. I can't imagine a worse life than being in a cage. I really don't like to see caged birds for that reason.

I had a canary who was very nervous when I got him... You need to be calm and patient with her. When you go to her cage no startling noises... Start talking or singing to her before you approach the cage. The fact that she has been on your hand already is a good sign.... she is starting to trust you. Don't overdo the attention... birds need their 'space' too. Good luck xx
