I've taken 2 1/2 years of wingchung jujitsu and 2 years of tae kwon do. I love the world of fighting and the people who do it. Tito Ortiz, Royce Gracie, Bruce Lee, and many others.

There is a semi-pro MMA competition call Hook-n-Shoot that premieres female fighters. There are also like venues around the US.

I don't know how interested Zuffa is in bringing female MMA fights to the UFC, however. They are a money making machine, now...so it's all about whether they think the idea is marketable or not.

If you are interested in becoming a MMA fighter, maybe contacting the ladies from this site will help:

The only requirements that the UFC officially holds is that applicants must be eighteen or older, greater than 145 lbs., and less than 265 lbs. Applicants are judged and invited based on a videotape audition. I think it's likely that the UFC would invite a female competitor if they found one. They are, after all, a corporation. Inviting female fighters would almost certainly increase their sales.

Having said that, I think it's unlikely, that you could compete in the UFC. I've studied self defense for years, and I KNOW I couldn't make it. I've known quite a few guys with a lot more training and physical ability than me who have tried and failed.

I don't think its impossible for you to make it, of course. I don't know anything about your build, but the average woman would have a serious disadvantage in size and strength. I've always believed that speed and intelligence are much more important for a fighter than size and strength. On UFC level competition, though, size becomes more important. Even the smallest guys in the UFC are 155 lbs. with less than 3% body fat. Even for the smartest fighters around, that's a huge difference in power to have to overcome. If you want to do it, I wish you all the luck in the world. Better you than me.

You mean a woman vs man? When the physical strength of a woman is comparable to that of a man of similar weight, it may happen. But probably not in this country because of the social stigma associated with a man fighting a woman. Woman vs another woman with weight classes would be a different story. I would be very interested in seeing that.

Dana White is one greedy person. If he feels there's money to be made you'll see women fighting in the octagon. I think he would start up a handicapped UFC if it were profitable.

Girls are mean fighters. They would kill eachother! I don't think the UFC would let it happen.
