Can a man EVER hit a woman?

Question

Under any circumstances? Excluding matters of self defence, eg, if the woman was waving a gun around and threatening to shoot someone.

I'm just asking out of iinterest to see what people think

hit is when you use power on her, to have self defence you only contain her, if she try to beat you , well you are a man enough to know what to do but to use violence against a woman is not right.
Now if you try to defend somebody from a woman who try to use a gun you can use physical power and disarm that person but not hit her totally.

I think that if a woman punches a man in the face then he should be able to respond in kind. Women should never put men in that position (hitting them) but if they lose control and get physically violent then I think an equal response is appropriate. I think that anyone who gets to this point already has failed to communicate effectively.

Obviously this answer excludes sporting competitions where fighting is the whole point (boxing or Tae Kwon Do). I have never been hit by a man in the civilian world although I definately took a few hits at survival school (military training) but that had a specific training objective.

If like you said the woman was waving a gun around and was a threat to others, if the only way to stop her shooting someone was to hit her then yes i think it would be OK to hit her under circumstances to that. But other than severe circumstances like that i would have to say it is never right to use violence against another person, man or woman.

Ideally NO. But things are sometimes not that straight forward, put in a position of extreme profication most people will react violently in the end. I can personally think of alot of instances involving family etc.. Where I would hit anyone reguardless of sex or age. I dont care who you are you would not let a woman batter your mum or wife or daughter in front of you. And laying your hands on them even dragging them off is assault so why not. I have seen women embarass men by challenging them to a fight as they know theyare in a no lose situation. If the guy walks away he is a coward if he does some thing he is a coward! Some women hide behind this unwritten rule and use it to their advantage anyone who says different is a liar!

If the society recognise the women for what God made them to be, then no man will ever dare hit a woman. Today, a woman aspire so hard to become everything a man. She is also complaining to God for giving her a bag in her stomach because this is hampering her from realising her dream of becoming a total man.
You have painted a sad scenario and i cannot imagine that in my environment. Rather a fall out of the americanisation of the mind of the woman. A man do not wield a gun at me, sa less a woman. So stop dreaming this. Ok?

Well-take the female part out of the question. Your question should be:

Can a person ever hit another person?

The only answer that makes sense is NOOOOOOOOOOOO unless it is self defense. And self defense does not include the defense of our ego. It means physical self defense-you are in imminent danger of being physically harmed.

The very idea of specifiying the femaleness in this question implies a different attitidude towards men and women, which is what the real issue is here.

some cultures and governments do allow it since women are not seen as equals to men. But no there is not a reason to hit anyone

I don't think I personally could but I have never been extremely provoked. I think it's important to note that a woman should never hit a man either and if she strikes him first then he is as justified to retaliate as she would be if their roles were reversed. What I'm trying to say is that I don't think people should hit people. full stop

No, it is never right to hit anyone. Women should not hit men either. IT is a form of great disrespect when someone hits another person. Other than self defense there is no reason that anyone should hit another person.

No he shouldn't .. but no more so that a man should ever hit a man in any other circumstances than self defense. Humans deserve the same respect irregardless of their sex.
