You might not be getting all the fruits and vegetables you need this way. Kellogs Special K asks you to take this very challenge that you mention with their cereal. But it is best to eat fruits and vegetables along with these meals through out the day, even to just snack on. I have bowls that hold three cups, and I fill them every morning with fruit and vegetables and then an apple above that on the side. I eat this first, and sometimes it takes all day to get through it, sometimes just all morning, and it really has
helped me. I have lost 40 pounds this way, and am still losing. Other than that, I'm still eating like I always have. Fruits and vegetables have many vitamins and nutrients in them that many cereals don't. Also, a lot of vegetables have absolutely no calories, which helps. Good Luck! :)
And to Blonda, I don't want to be rude, but some people eat very healthy and work out a lot, and can't lose weight. I used to have a killer slow metabolism, I worked out three hours a day and ate only really healthy foods, and I couldn't lose the weight. It took a lot of work, and getting really sick for a month to finally kick my metabolism into place. At the time I was about 25, I had the heart of a 15 year old my doctor said, 110/61 bp, heart beat of 65 a minute, and the lists go on. My doctor said it was just how my body was, and it took a long while to find out how to make my body work right so that I could finally start losing, that is where eating only fruit and vegetables came into play, I also have to work out an hour before I eat, to wait into the day won't work for me, that's just how my body is. Please don't be so harsh on people, some people are just big because their bodies work differently than others.

The cereal diet approach will work at least initially. Typically, its the high fiber content in cereals which allow the body's metabolism to increase and also keeps hunger regulated.
Think long-term though for your body. Begin to put together an exercise regimen that includes walking, jogging, or swimming. Also couple it with some lifting or weight work.
These specialty diets will sometimes work initially, but are not a healthy or viable option down the road. The body will operate at its best when its nutritional needs are met through consuming good food and proper hydration.

I think if you had the large meal at lunch and the bowl of cereal at dinner time may be better metabolically. At lunch you can have your main protein source and fruit and vegetables. I think if you're eating whole grain cereal you can add an extra teaspoon of bran or oat bran to the bowl with some fruit, you should be okay. You can always check with a nutritionist or dietitian to confirm you're getting a balanced food intake with your cereal diet.

It will work. It also depends on what type of cereal you will use. If it is a high sugar cereal, it won't work. Try any Kellogg's, Kashi, or wheat cereal. I use Cheerios. Low calorie, low fat, low sugar. I usually eat cereal for dinner because 1. I don't like to cook during the summer, and 2. it is simple. Good luck

why does everyone think there is a "diet" out there that works. come on ppl common freakin sense. if you eat fresh healthy foods, quit the sugar and the fast foods, and get up off your fat a**es, you will lose weight. sorry if i sound harsh, but come on. have we gotten so lazy, that we would rather suffer and only eat cereal until dinner time? Rather than just eating sensibly and excercising? there is not "great" diet.

Diets don't work... but eating healthy will.
If you are SET on doing two bowls of cereal a day, replace breakfast and dinner. Your metabolism is peaks in the middle of the day, and thats when you can consume the most calories.

You won't be getting proper nutrition. Talk to a nutritionist and they can get you on a proper diet. You may lose weith with your diet, but in the long run, you will gain it back and people often gain back more weight than they lost when they follow an improper diet to lose weight. You need meat, fruits, vegetables, grains, etc. If you eat a proper diet and exercise, then you will lose weight.

That is how my husband lost 18 pounds in a month, but he rode his bike every night too. You have to include excercise. I lost 20 pounds with just adding walking to my daily routine, of course I am not a big eater anyway, but I had kept some weight after having my daughter. The walking I think is what did it.

I read about that diet; I think the article said a person doing it would lose about 10 pounds in 3 months.

My ex gf lost weight doing just that. She ate a bowl of Grape Nuts at breakfast and lunch with fat free milk.
We alsways had something with low fat at dinner like skinless chicken breast and steamed veggies.
She lost weight she'd carried for years and kept it off.
