Agree, North Korea is a significant threat now. I think the most significant difference between the two, and the reason why Saddam was perceived as a bigger threat, has to do with resources. Saddam's Iraq had sufficient income and hegemony to develop weapons of mass destruction (though ability doesn't mean they had the knowledge or actually were successful), while Jong-Il's North Korea is impoverished after nearly half a century of bunker dictatorship and a militaristic drive in the economy.
I'd venture to say that the only reason why North Korea has gone as far as it has is due to assistance from China, since North Korea can act as a credible deterrent to anti-Chinese aggression while China remains publicly peaceable.
The U.S. will likely push for sanctions and demand inspection of potential missile sites by U.N. inspectors. I don't think we have the resources (or political clout) to mount an invasion. Ironically, North Korea is the one country where isolation would eventually cause regime collapse - without assitance from Russia and China, the nation would run itself into the ground.

US would probably push the UN Security Council to place sanctions on North Korea if there were any hints of nuclear weapons.
Big reason: North Korea is a big threat to Japan, Taiwan, Hawaii, and the United States' western coastline.

WOW, I merely love all the cool solutions from each body. Why make the form of state-of-the-paintings element out of this. for sure if North Korea replaced into to launch a nuclear missile at shall we are saying a neighbor. One 0.5 hour later there will be no North Korea to launch any better missiles.

So the N. Korea if they using nuclear weapon on Iraq they must have permission to the U.S. to help against the Iraq. Should be Iraq is the perfect testing fire so the Iraq will surrender to U.S. then U.S. will reward the N. Korea for there help. C'mon everybody fear with Nuclear weapons like Japan in World War 2 in Hiroshima the Atomic Bomb drop. Japan never surrender then Nagasaki they surrender they know they are no match for American Military Weapons. Taiwan? Oh no not my country alright our military is no good against Communist but China I care but China and Taiwan is the same country, same people, different government, and different rules.

Will protest but in the end it will be China that will put pressure on North Korea to halt it's missile tests.

I hope we find a non military way to stop them, but I would not bet on it. We will be pushed to protect Japan & China, for us - it is not like the are after the East Coast or anything - Hey Just Kidding - I have relatives on West Coast too!

To answer the question, we will watch it.
To make a comment, on your comment. Puny country like Iraq? It was only the 3rd largest army on the planet. Doesn't sound puny to me.

If North Korea wants to test their missiles, we should test our ability to take down missiles.
We just opened our Alaska defense facility... test our preparedness by shooting down their missiles.
I see nothing wrong with showing the North Koreans what will happen to their missile if they aim it towards us or our allies.
