UT is primarily used to detect defects such as cracks, inclusions, porosity or slag in load-bearing components. There are a few primary test setups. The tester can either test for the uninterrupted transmission of the sound wave (through transmission), listen for a reflected sound wave, or use one transducer to generate the sound wave and another to detect. All of these techniques work on the principle that a defect will alter the propagation of the sound wave.

It is a non-destructive test for structural integrity.

They send soundwaves through a structure, and analyze the results (similar to x-rays using electromagnetic radiation).

If there are microfractures in a material, or even a weld, the sound waves won't propagate in the same way (they will be severly dampened). This can be detected before problems develop from sending out a vessel w/ an unexpected crack or other defect.

In your application, you can use it to detect cracks. The US waves will interact differently depending on the material. If the wave hits air, the object will appear differently when compared to a solid vessel. It's used extensively on high pressure pipelines. Previously, x-rays were utilized but the US machines are much more portable than x-ray tubes.

dropping the call of atheist had no longer something to do with morality or immorality or medical "miracles" or something like that. First, "atheist" is an unsatisfying identity. it is adverse, and it purely pertains to disbelief in one proposition. for this reason, it is shallow. So I dropped it, and went on a quest to return to a decision what I did have self assurance. That led me finally to the understanding that God is subjective, no longer purpose. there became no want for purpose evidence any further than there became want for purpose evidence that my prominent flavor of ice cream truly is the appropriate interior the worldwide. I many times do no longer point out that i'm a former atheist because of the fact explaining it in complete is typically greater subject than its worth, and so i do no longer engender that distrustful reaction you mentioned. yet now i'm noticing that if i do no longer talk up, some atheists make each and every variety of adverse stereotypes and assumptions approximately former atheists. edit: No, it is incorrect. as quickly as I say "dropping the call of atheist" because of the fact of this i ended using it as an identifier, no longer that I as we talk went decrease back to believing in deities, purpose or in any different case. i did no longer like the be conscious (I felt that it became shallow and adverse, as I mentioned). I used advantageous words like "naturalist" or "humanist" as we talk after dropping "atheist"
