Keep it simple, just ask them how their day was and go from there. Then you can start asking other questions that follow up after the first one. If you have a good connection from the start, you will get to know them pretty well by the time that you get done talking with them.

Your answer depends greatly upon their and your ages so it is hard to answer correctly. If you are a teen then talk about the activities you like to do, movies you like to see, video games you enjoy playing and the music you enjoy. If you are 18 or over then find out more about the persons family members, their religious beliefs, political views, philosophy about life, what types of foods they enjoy and what kinds of entertainment they like. Also maybe where they like to vacation and travel to. Family is very important because as you get older you tend to be more and more like the family you came from with traits from the mother and father. Also if older find out if that person is very jealous as if they are then they are more of a controlling type person and that will make for an unhappy relationship.
