I am a healthy 30 year old male with a bad habit. I started using skoal about 10 years ago. I have had several girlfriends over the years and I have managed to keep it a secret. I am afraid that if I make it known up front to a date that she will not want to continue to get to know me. Please note that I do not use while I am with a woman. It is something that I do on my own time. I take very good care of my teeth and I actually get compliments on my smile. Should I fess up when we meet or remain a closet dipper?

I've been around a lot of folks who dip but I've never dated anyone. My exhusband used to dip before we got married; I told him flat out that he would not be allowed to kiss me if he was dipping - sorry, but the thought grosses me out totally. Since you take care of your teeth & apparantly are not letting it rot your mouth (as so many of the men I know have) then you might find someone who will be okay with it. I would be honest about it; it's something you do, like smoking or drinking, right? & any potential love interest you have should know that about you. Heck, I might even have changed my position if it was someone like you, who took care of their teeth! Remember, "to thine own self, be true". Good luck!!

That is the most disgusting habit in the world. I used to date a professional baseball player and he dipped, it was gross. I couldn't kiss him whenever I wanted and even when I could I could still taste it. I think no matter how clean you try to make your mouth, it can be detected.
But to answer your question, if it's someone you want to get serious with you should be forth coming. Lying about anything will not help you in the long run because eventually she'll find out and then where will you be? If she's a woman like me, who doesnt date smokers, then you have to allow her that right and let her make her own choice.

My husband chews Copenhagen. Not a problem if you are up front and honest. You don't need to make a big deal out of it if it is something you do on your own time, but don't lie about it. I would wait to see how the first few dates go then when it the time is right and you see a future with a girl then you can discuss it. And if you only chew part time then why not just quit?

It does not have to b a secret. Just be respectful of your Woman. Never chew while you are with her. I chew copenhagen, but I know that it is considered to be a disgusting habit. I only use it at work, in the bathroom, or when I am out with the guys... My girl knows I chew, but she has never seen it...

Nothing personal. But you need to stop. I know smoking is gross but I am a smoker. But dipping? That is really nasty. I'm sure you have a beautiful smile and all that, but it is not good. I wish you the best but you might have to tell the girls you get with.

I personally can't stand smoking or anything like it. But you might find a woman who doesn't mind one day. I think you should be upfront about it and if they have a problem with it then you can talk about it and see where it goes from there. Relationships that start out with secrets are doomed.

definite some, and just about actually everyone I dated cheated on me with their groupies oh except the single acception, I walked in on him in our mattress with a fifteen 12 months previous female (he replaced into 24). i have stayed far off from adult men in bands because that inspite of the actual undeniable truth that my fiance seems particularly lovable playing Guitar Hero. LOL

i am engaged to a man that dips i told him as long as he has it out of his mouth when he kisses me and if he spits it in something that he cleans or outside where i won't step in it it's cool. i like the smell of the wintergreen my grandpa use to dip it so good memories from the smell

honesty is always best. i knew my boyfriend chewed before i started dating him, but if he wuld have kept it a secret and i wuld have found out i would be upset, i want to know the person i am with ad that includes their habits.

be yourself........ I know guys that dip Skoal and they don't have any problems dating. i would rather a guy dip Skoal then be a jerk.
