Just try a google search, lots of websites will come up with great info. I REALLY recommend meeting one, whether at a breeder or find an owner willing to let you stop in and meet their dog. It is an unusual breed!

Canaan dogs are bred carefully to maintain their ability to survive as a wild dog - sort of the opposite of how most dogs are bred. For example, most people want a dog that is 100% relaxed even when they hear a loud noise, or something unusual is going on. Canaan dogs are bred to be cautious, wary of unusual noises and people, and this can make them seem shy or overly independent. The Canaan dog breeders want them this way, because they want to maintain a breed that still retains its survival instincts and not just 'pet' instincts.

So they can be wonderful pets and some people swear by them. But if you had a golden retriever personality in mind, this is probably not the dog for you.

This is a link to the Canaan Dog Club of America. You can find all kinds of info on the breed and they should also have several links related to the breed.

Here's is a link from the AKC (American Kennel Club), http://www.akc.org/breeds/canaan_dog/index.cfm, that breaks down all the phiysical factors of this dog, not so much on the temperment though. This site though, http://www.cdca.org/, is dedicated strictly to Canaans.
