That won't happen, I think we're doing a bang up job of being wastefull, and I think the planet won't be such a lovely place in 100 years, but we won't pollute it to the point of complete and total annihilation. The only way for that to happen would be a complete and total nuclear holocaust, and I think we're smart enough to avoid that. I think so, but I don't know so. Humans are adaptive creatures, we may mess things up for most of the rest of the planet, but we have a while longer to go, and I have hopes that in the future we will be able to turn our intelligence and will power towards improving our planet instead of improving our individual selves. Have hope, and do what you can to make the world a better place.

The world won't pollute itself;
Humans are heading to make it inhospitable for themselves and most other large creatures; but it will probably be a lingering demise over hundreds of years. What will disapear very quickly, in decades, is any hope of a sustainable civilisation; we will be reduced to hand to mouth fighting for resources.
But we probably won't exterminate all life, eg bacteria, then Gaia will flip to a new equilibrium state and rebuild life, but not as we know it.

It may be too late already. Read Al Gore's book,
"An inconvenient Truth". Or go to see the Movie.
