I've always had rescues but if I were to choose a specific breed I have to say Pit bulls and Great Danes! Pitts have an awful reputation but i owned one that was a rescue "bait" dog from a fighting ring. So smart and more lovable than a kitten! She was by far the perfect dog. I love great danes for their quiet smugness and couch potato personalities. They're very expressive and perfect for a small home tht wants a large dog, would normally think a large dog in an apartment is mean but Danes are more adapted to that life than a chihuahua.

Dobermans. My avatar is one of the pups fathered by my male. 9 years ago is when I got my first Dobie and since then I would not have any other type of dog although there are many that I think are nice. Dobermans are natural guard dogs and very loving with thier owners. I had read once in a book that DObies are one of the best breeds around children because they are especially fond of children and noticed how very true this statement was since my Dobie had a cut paw which was very sore. Any time my older sons or friends that had come over even came close to his paw he let them know that they better not even touch his paw or else. One poor guy accidentally stepped well more like kicked his paw and my dog was ontop of him in a second. Luckily I was right there so I grabbed him before he could bite the guy. Well then the next day my 5 year old grandson was visiting and accidentally stepped on his paw and all he did was make a little growling noise and pushed my grandson with his nose to back him away from his paw. Of course this scared my grandson for a second and he started to cry and as soon as he did my dog crawled over slowly next to my grandson and started to make a whimpering noise and lick my grandson and then rolled over on his back and started acting silly which made my grandson laugh. Since I used to take my dog with me everywhere and he was very beautiful probably since he never was outside people were attracted to him and some would try to come up and want to pet him and unless they were a child or a female he would go nuts. Sadly my baby died at age 6 and then got another one and he has since fathered a few that I have kept. Dobies just dont act like dogs. They seem more human in the way that they think and I read that too that the Doberman is the only breed of dog that actually knows how to reason. The male that I have now for example was not to happy because his son had laid down next to me where he wanted to lay down at . He sat there for a second and then took off outside and started barking which made everyone else run out to bark too. Next thing I knew he was back inside and laying down in the spot that he wanted. He made his son go outside just so he could take over the spot. Thats why I love DObermans. Because they are so smart and they are just so beautiful they look proud and they dont shed. I have never had my dogs trained but the way they act you would think that they had been. Sorry about this being so long its just I do love my babies.

Actually I have two favorite breeds of dog, one is German Shepard because when my sons were growing up we took care of a neighbors dog and he was just wonderful with my sons and the neighbor decided to give my boys the dog and my other favorite breed of dog is our Red Husky that we have now.
Huskies are so friendly and always in the best of moods and are so eager to please.
Both breeds are truly wonderful and very loyal too. We are blessed to have known them both.

I always adopt or rescue my dogs, so I never care what breed they are. I had a Border Collie that was the smartest dog I've ever known. I have a Siberian Husky/German Shepherd mix and a genuine Mutt living with me now. They are both wonderful dogs.

I have a 10 year old black lab that I love like my child, he's been the best dog ever. Sure theres things I wish I could change like the shedding, freaking out at storms and fireworks, getting him a babysitter when I go out of town but I would never get rid of him.

My favorite breed is the Siberian husky. I love them so much because they are so social, loving, loyal, and always full of energy. I recently lost my husky to cancer after 9.5 years and I miss her terribly. I find myself sometimes getting ready to call her when I drop food on the floor. I miss taking her for walks and playing with her. She was a good dog and loved her family (pack) unconditionally. We had her cremated and will be spreading her ashes around our home and in one of her favorite places she used to like to go for walks and to run.

I like all breeds of dogs and don't really have a favorite. I presently have a german shepard mix and had a pure-bred cocker spaniel. Both loving, adorable, and protective.

A mutt from any pound. You get a little bit of everything with them. They are the greatest and healthiest. Look at Balto.
Rhodesian Ridgebacks are a close second, though. They get BIG.
