The sooner you get them neutered the better. Male cats are slow to sexually mature - usually about 9 mos, so if you wait past that point, you boy may pick up spraying. I have had over 30 cats in my life time, and all have been males except for 1. I find male kitty's to be more affectionate for the most part than females. You should get them neutered at 4 mos of age, if the spraying will be an issue for you. Most vets will neuter just as soon as the testicles begin to drop or show. There are some vets that now spay and/or neuter as early as 8 weeks of age, but I discourage that, as they are so small, and they are not sexually active, so it seems unnecessary to me. I have followed the 4 mo rule for 20 years and have yet to have a male cat spray in my house.

Most vets will neuter a cat at around 3 months of age.. The kitten shouldn't be spraying before then.. If you get him done before he starts spraying, he will never do it.. If you wait until he starts the procedure may not stop the spraying, but chances are it will stop or prevent the spraying completely, and also reduce/remove the risk of male cancers.

If it is the only cat and gets neutered you will not have problems with spraying. You can get them fixed at 12 weeks old but most vets won't until they are 6 months old. That is when they start to go into heat.

The only male cat I had that sprayed in the house was not neutered until he was an adult. I've never had one that did it that was neutered as soon as it could be done. I suspect that the one I had a problem with, also did it because we had two other males at the time. Male cats are very territorial so I would suggest that you get your kitten neutered as soon as possible.

If you want a male kitten the best thing to do is as soon as it turns of age to get neutered do it before he learns to spray and go into heat and all that. Talk to your vet who you will take him to, but I think we took our cat in at 6 months, but double check with your vet.

I used to have 2 male cats, they DO spray, get them fixed ASAP. That is the only way that you can stop this from happening. I have a male cat now, he has been fixed an has never sprayed. Good luck!

Wait till he is about 6 months old and have him neutered. He will not fight with other males and will not come home torn to peices. Also,he will not spray your house with a very foul smell. It is the right thing to do.

how old is he? If he's over 6 months, he's going to start to spray soon. I had mine neutered when he was about one. Thankfully (and surprisingly) he didn't spray.
Now, even though he's neutered, he retains that instinct and makes a spraying gesture by putting his rear near an object and shaking his tail LOL

they will spray in the house if there's a threat theres another cat around, get him seen to. Makes him nice to know and he wont disappear for days on end looking for girfriends,he probably wont spray and best of all he certainly wont smell of tom cat yuk that smell lingers forever

Our male cat never sprayed around the house. They typically do that if they are unspayed and if they have lived outside previous. Spraying is to mark their territory.
