Maybe it's because they're not considered to be addictive the way tobacco is. If alcohol is addictive, maybe we should have warnings on bottles.

Potato chips do have nutritional information labels that list the number of servings and the number of calories, fat grams, etc. That's kinda like a warning label. Everyone knows that chips are not a health food. But, by themselves, they do not cause obesity. It's eating bag after bag of them along with other junk food that causes obesity.

I asked this once and everyone said that I was out of line and that no one ever got hurt by second hand calories.
I beg to differ. We are going to see more people in trouble medically because of obesity. I pay taxes towards health care so well, society in general is going to pay.
I think that this would be a really great idea. I would even suggest that it be done like we do in Canada with the cigarettes. Put a picture of a morbidly obese person on the package. Watch how many people will want to graze through a bag then.

Just about anything can make you unwell in too great proportions. Cigarettes on the other hand are just flat out toxic. Also, "obesity" is not "caused by potato chips", lol. It's caused by many factors, and foods. Not only that, but it is, when all's said and done, not as dire a health risk as cancer. You stand a very good chance of "surviving" even whilst obese, and of reversing the condition if you truly commit to that (in most cases). Hardly in the same ball-park as lung cancer. Oh--and they do not contain one of the most addictive drugs known to humans(nicotine, in the case of cigarettes). Just a small point....

Logic. Smoking even one cigarette per day is detrimental to your health. Eating one potato chip a day is not. There are people who don't eat a whole bag of chips at a time. Junk food can be eaten in moderation and have no adverse effects on your body. Smoking in moderation will still harm you.

so do MANY other things. should we start labeling everything. Every food is bad for you for some reason or another with the exception of veggies. Potato chips are fine as long as you don't eat the whole bag.

It's only a matter of time. There is now a movement to put such warnings on infant formula.
