God is still here "creating floods, famines, wars. Destroying cities and things like that". Most people have just strayed so far that we fail to recognize him anymore.
The first chapter of Romans says that people will begin to worship the creature more than the Creator. I'd say that's failing to recognize the Lord.
Don't take this wrong, because I don't mean to berate you when I say this. Stop, and look around you more often. You can see miracles every day - blindness mysteriously cured, etc.
My father wore a seatbelt every day of his life as a truck driver, and one morning he just didn't put it on. Fifteen minutes later his truck went out of control and he was thrown out of the window while the truck was wrapped around a 4' thick maple tree. He was unharmed except that he landed in a patch of poison ivy. If he had buckled that seatbelt like every other day of life, he would have been crushed to death in that driver's seat that day. I don't know about you, but I would call that the hand of God.
Good luck to you. I hope you find what you are looking for.

To answer your question, God is right were you left Him. If you can't see His miracles everyday then there is only one thing wrong with you, you are lost, or you have moved so far away from God you can't see or feel Him anymore. It is also plain that you only have read parts of the Bible or heard them because if you knew your Bible you would not ask such a question. As for your statement about God and Mary, this shows how little you know about God and the Bible and your last statement it does not even desire to be read little lone answered

His mother said to him "What is this you have done to these poor earth creatures?" The demiurge answered "There is no god beside Me and I can do what I want and everyone will worship Me or else!" His mother (the holy Sophia) then said "You lie, Yaldaboath, for there are many greater than you, and you have sinned against the Entirety" And she proceeded to slap him across the back of the head real hard and no one has heard from him since.
Later they sent the light-being from heaven to apologise to humans and to explain the terrible mistake and how the angels are working around the clock to clean up the universal mess, but the ignorant crucified him.

Well, let's see, we've taken HIM out of our schools, we're taking the 10 Commandments out of the government, we're trying to take "In GOD we trust" out of our currency, atheism, homosexuality, sexual immorality and GOD knows what else is happening as we speak....HE's still there, but you must 1st seek HIM...Deuteronomy 4:29~From this place, you will seek the Lord your GOD and here, you shall find HIM, if you SEEK HIM with all of your heart and soul.... PLus, I'm pretty sure we don't want the GOD of the Old Testament....HE struck people down for their lack of obedience....almost the entire human race would be dead by now if this were the case....When Christ came to die for our sins, we were permitted a chance of forgiveness....back then, if you messed up, there was no hope of redemption....You still wnat fire and brimstone?
Be Blessed

He is always with us, inside of our hearts. It is a faith thing, to believe without seeing. That is what it is all about. Faith!!! You can move your own mountians and part your own seas if you only believe in His awesome power He gives us to do that. All things are possible through Christ, believe it will be done and in the right time, His time it will be done. Everything has it's time and season, His Will will be done. And it will only be for the good.

he's probably wondering where you are. You have to seek God in order to know God. Your probably looking in the wrong places, he's not in a bar or on the highway.

OT God is a "divided" God, a pluralized God(Elohyim). Therefore the OT is "all vanity and vexation of spirit" according to Solomon;
http://www.godshew.org/RevelatorySermons24.htm
Who also says: "with all thy getting, get understanding", and notes when understanding is embraced, it results in thy head being crowned with "grace" glory [not grace and law added].
http://www.godshew.org/TwainShew3.htm#Glorys
A "divided" God both spake and spoke, in time past and present, such as the God noted in To The Hebrews 1. But what's spoken to us, of them/us, and now of then/now, is better of good/better, or grace of law/grace, and mercy of sacrifice/mercy, and peace of division/peace.
And this God, of this/that Gods (that God is light having no darkness at all), is only a "Majesty" God on "high" (Heb 1;3) of high/higher, in the (plural & divided) "heavens" (Heb 8:1) of heavens/heaven, singular "heaven" being "higher than the heavens". So even when on the right hand of such a God in such heavens divided left/right, it still gives place to the left(law), which still gives place to sin and death of devil law.
So we are exhorted to "go on unto perfection" (Heb 6:1), or to go up higher(than the heavens) of high/higher heavens/heaven, where "Christ": "the end of the law" notably appeared to "God in (singular) heaven", and notably for "us". For God hath given "us" the victory, "through Jesus->Christ".
Not to mention
- mark and avoid them which cause "division": Rom 16:17
- be not "high"minded: Rom 11:20; 1Tim 6:17; 2Tim 3:4
- glory to God in the highest (of high/higher)
- mind not "high" things: Rom 12:16
It's "allegory" in both "covenants": Gal 4; also "mystery" (noted over 20 times) to solve in time, lest all perish by law instead of none perish by grace.
The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
