The only explaination is that there is absolutolly no similarity between the two. Their founders were as different as night and day. The bases for the two religions have almost nothing in common, and there is no way to even begin with the differences in this format Because almost anything you can say about one you can NOT say about the other.
You will find more similarities between Hindu and Buddist. They spring from the same fountain.

Islam is based on an idea that there is only One God[ALLAH] and no one else. He created everything and He can do everything . To guide human He send His Prophets . The Last Prophet Muhammad [SAWS][peace be upon him]. was the Messenger of God and like Jesus has God's Book bible He gave people Holy Quraan which was not written by Him but was sent to Him by ALLAH [God]. Islam Follows two things one is Quraan and second is Sunnah [the ways Holy Prophet Muhammad taught].
Budhism is no way near Islam but some ideas like humanity and Peace are somethings which are alike. Like Islam discourages innocent killing.
