Here's a recipe that works for me -- my dad used to love this...
Saute 1 lb semi-lean ground beef in a skillet until lightly browned
Drain off any excess juice and/or fat in the pan (there should be a few tablespoons left -- if there's not, add 1-2 tablespoons of butter)
Sprinkle flour (2-3 tablespoons) over the beef
Stir to combine and cook for about 1-1/2 minutes (to get rid of the raw flour taste)
Season with salt and pepper to taste (I recommend be generous with the black pepper - you can also throw in a tiny bit of cayenne for a little kick)
Stir in 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder (or garlic powder), or to taste
Stir in approx. 1 to 1-1/2 cups milk over the mixture (whole milk will make it creamiest, but low-fat or skim works too)
Cook over medium-low to medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sauce starts to bubble and thicken
Add a few dashes of Worchestershire sauce
Stir in 2-3 teaspoons of butter right before serving
Serve over your choice of toast

It's really simple.

2 Tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour

Melt the butter with the flour on a medium high heat. Add a little bit of milk at a time (usally about a 1 1/2 cups) (till the desired thickness). The longer it sits, the thicker it gets. Add some pepper, had your beef. Let it sit for a few minutes to thicken. This is good for about 4 pices of toast. Just keep it in portion, so 3 tablesppons flour / 3 tablesppons butter

Perfect for a winter / fall morning breakfast.

Very simple.......
I don't know if you have the Buddig Packaged Corned Beef in your area but that's what I use in place of Dried Beef or Hamburger. Some also use crumbled up fried Pork Sausage, but then again use any meat that suits your taste.
First tear or cut meat into small chunks or prepare your type other meat of your choice.
Using a pot on the stove, add 3 or 4 tablespoons of butter and melt. After butter is melted add the same amount of flour to the butter using a wire-whip to mix it together. Once mixed, start adding 2 cups of cold milk (use condenced canned milk for richer flavor) and continue stirring until mixture thickens, then add your meat and cook til hot. (Stirring continually you won't get any lumps) If mixture is too thick just add a bit more milk until you get the desired creamy thickness you want. Make toast, sit down and enjoy. NOTE: For those who have never eaten SOS, it's a GI Breakfast meal that I as well as hundreds of other GI's loved to eat and still do. (My kids love it too) SOS = S*** on a Shingle......
For a variance.... try a can of Tuna Fish... it's also a great change of pace and delicious. I love them all.

I use the same recipes but I add a little prepared mustard to the sauce. It gives it a little something different. And we also like it on mashed potatoes as well as toast. We call it s*** on a mountain!!!

RedUnicorn's recipe sounds about right to me.

Be sure to chop beef into small squares; strips will slap you on the chin.
