To paj and the above posters asking for examples; you say your religion is governed by the New Testament now, which preaches non-violence.

The Crusades were fought under the New Testament. That doesnt seem so non-violent to me; in fact, that was probably the largest congragation of Christians for the purpose of violence in history.

Another example is the Spanish inquisition in Spain. Anyone who did not convert to the Anglican religion (still a sect of Christianity) was tortured, and if that did not influence them to convert, they were killed.

Also, there was ongoing civil wars in Ireland sparked by the Christian religion as well. Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland were split between two different Christian sects and each fought to make the national religion their own. In the end, the result was a division and each religion stayed on their side. Nonetheless, the congregated and violently fought for their religion, in hate of the opposition.

You told the person above you to get their fact straight first before making his point; I urge you to do the same. Perhaps read a history textbook or two next time. Just because it's stated in the bible, that doesnt mean it still isnt practiced. I've even heard of modern day christians beating homosexuals; that is a hate crime. Another prime current example is the KKK as well.

Also, he isnt making an inference of all the christians in the world. Just because it is done, doesnt mean that all christians would do so. In any religion this happens, actually. There are always people who will take it to that level because they believe they're doing the work of God...another example would be the 9/11 terrorists and Al Qaeda. They congregated for violent purposes, but the Islam religion by no means upholds violence.

The latest news that has really irritated me is these churches that take thier members and they show up at certain peoples funerals to bash them and the rest of the world. Remember the miners who died?... A certain baptist church went to those funerals to make thier opinion known. Their opinion is that those miners died because there are gay people in this world. How screwed up is that? Anyways... My answer to your question is that being a christian does not mean you are free from sin. We are all sinners. When you become a christian, you are supposed to be more God-like and try to do good. Unfortunately, so many poeple are going about it the wrong way. And to end my answer and probably piss off a few people, I will say that if ever there is a religous group of people that are violent and evil.. its the Islam/Muslim community. People that practice this religion....I have witnessed thier efforts to do 'good', and it is all very self-centered. The good is for themselves, and they will do almost anything to anyone to gain for themselves and thier family.

what are you talking about? christians who act in violence aren't christians at all

and to the poster above me "eye for an eye" is old testement, which is not the law we're under anymore, so it does not apply

"do unto others" and "turn the other cheek" are exactly what we're supposed to do (as stated by Jesus)

before you start randomly quoting bits & pieces of the bible, you might want to look into the fact that the Old Testament is just a history book, and the New Testament is the law we're under (since Jesus was crusified for our sins).

First you do not know all Christians so stop making prejudice statements
Second exactly what are you talking about for people to believe that your question has merit you need facts not an obvious bias and slanderous statement like the one you posted.

One needs to look at the difference between the words "kill" and "murder". If one takes a life just for no reason then that is "murder". If one takes a life protecting his family, country or by accident then that is killing someone. I do not notice christians dancing in the streets when someone is murdered or killed. Perhabs you have another religion in mind.

Can you give a specific example? I would presume you mean war. Everyone seems to congratulate each other during war, religion has nothing to do with it. That is sad however.

that made absolutely no sense, but I think I get what you mean...and it's not true in any way..you don't know all Christians, so you can't speak for all of them...so don't try..unless you talk to every single christian in the entire world, you don't have anything to back up the lame things you're saying;

I've never seen the violence, but the hate stems from them thinking the person they perpetrated it against must've been "sinning" in a way that they believed it was necessary.
