Your question is rather insipid, but I'll take the two points for answering. Mary Magdalene may have chosen a life of prostitution (if she really was a prostitute) because she saw no other way to survive, the same as some who are prostitutes today. Once Jesus came into her life all of her sins were forgiven, so it doesn't really matter after that, does it?

Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute. Mary Magdalene was a single woman of independent means whose power and influence the early church fathers feared. Those men tried to defuse her potential by defaming her and hoping that people would respond by trashing her messages. When that didn't work, they simply removed as much about her as they could from the New Testament. Their mistake was in failing to destroy ALL written material about her. BTW - Mary Magdalene was not Jesus' wife or lover.

According to Luke 2:8, Mary Magdalene was a woman who had 7 demons cast out of her, then followed Christ for the rest of his ministry. She was not a prostitute.
Luke 8:1 & 2
" After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out..." NIV version.

Actually, she wasn't a prostitute. That was a misinterpretation or as some claim, libel. But, even if she had been, your asking why someone who allegedly lived thousands of years ago chose a certain lifestyle in a time where the world culture was completely different. It's not something that can be answered by anyone but The Time Traveler.

There is absolutely nowhere in the Bible that says Mary Magdelin was. There is a story about a prostitute in one of the gospels a few verses before the subject switches to her, and this may be where all the confusion started.

Perhaps the right question should have been why the prostitute Magdalen has turned to God after many years in the dirt.

She wasn't, just another myth perpetuated by the Catholic church. The correct translation of the old Hebrew is simply that she was an unmarried woman who had money and could support herself without the help of a man, not a prostitute. Go and do a little research.

According to Dan Brown in the book Da Vinci Code, Maria wasn't a prostitute. On the contrary, she was a descendant of a royal family. She was the victim of a propaganda from the clerics of the church, due to the fact that had trusted her, a woman, to spread his word and develop his church.

An unanswerable question. How would anyone know? She lived 2,000 years ago and the only record of her at all in in the Bible and it tells us nothing other than that Christ cast 7 demons out of her and that she, along with some others, supported His ministry out of her personal means, she was at His crucifixion, and Jesus appeared to her at the tomb. Everything beyond that is pure speculation and fiction.

Maybe she needed the money. I am certain that it was difficult for people to earn a living back then. There are many countries that women still have to rely on men for money. How sad! I doubt she entered into the trade without good reason.
