Her mother and brother rarely attend family functions (her father always attends). They live about 15-20 minutes away from most of the family. We hardly know her, so buying an actual gift is very difficult. Any suggestions?

Sorry...yes, she's our cousin.

We would be giving a gift because her parents are having a graduation party for her and we are invited.

I would say that 25.00 in a nice card would be suitable. I assume she is a relative--it just might bring the ties together for the next function.

I would only give $20, but if you can afford it, and if you feel kindly toward the father, give $50.

We just had a party for my daughter, and the gifts ranged from $20 (from my younger stepbrother) to $50 with a small actual gift (i.e. photo album for her prom pictures).

If the $ issue makes you uncomfortable, you could always go the photo album/picture frame route. If she's going to college, get a hoodie or sweatshirt from the one she's going to.

I would buy an address book for the grad. Only spend what you feel comfortable with (about $20 or a family meal out). This way you won't feel guilty about not acknowledging the occasion and family connection.

Depends on what you can afford. Personally 25 dollars, but the real reason you will be giving her a gift is because of the father so....

No need to give her anything since she sees fit not to be close to you. The most you need to do is give a pat on her back. Graduating is her and her family's business not yours. Her family should be the ones giving her any rewards for graduating.

10 to 20 dollars will be a fine amount considering they are not as close and should be happy with anything you give.

You could buy her a giftcard ($20-50) to Target (or another chain store that sells a variety of things), if she's going to college it could come in handy!
