Because the Holy Spirit is a gentle Spirit and Jesus knew we would be tempted with other spirits that we would not be able to tell the difference of unless we had something to go by.

At Matt.11:19 Jesus personified "wisdom" and depicted it as having "works" or "children".Yet" wisdom "is not a person with an individual existence.Also,Romans5:14,21
personalises "death" and "sin" as reigning kings. But they are not living personages.Evidently Jesus did the same in regard to the spirit,he personalised something that was actually not a person.

Also please remember - this is the WORDS OF GOD (as you claim!!!) .
Dont you think that if it was GOD's own words he would have known that it would show confusion and would have been consistant/ precise at all times?
