I am 30 year old guy and I too have been suspected of being gay just because I haven't had a steady girlfriend in about 10 years. I just seem to be happier without a committed relationship. I enjoy the freedom. I think most people can't imagine being alone all the time. I also refuse to discuss the women that I have been with when I am around the fellas' and they are exchanging stories. This also raises suspicion, but I find it to be very tacky when I here my friends or guys in general bragging about their "conquests". That is just not my style. Don't let their opinion bother you.

Ever because they have a partner and assume everyone else needs one too, or they are from an era where it was assumed you were gay if you weren't attached for a long time, it was sort of an unwritten law.

Some people can't imagine being alone for a longer time - they just can't take such a situation. So they think you are alike and "need" someone to be happy.
