First off I noticed someone said "Toyota wanted nothing to do with nascar and was above it"...WELL you should check your info before you open your mouth and stick your foot in...Toyota is going to be in Nascar in 2007-2008 area. I definately don't think they are above it they are no better than any Chevy, Ford, Dodge.
I think Toyota should only be let in to Nascar if they produce cars in America or at least do some manufacturing here that brings jobs to American workers....I think that they do but I'm really not sure........And NO I don't think that Toyota will walk away with the sport. They proabably won't start off winning at all till they work out some of the bugs.

I am a huge fan of Toyota, but I agree with many others that NASCAR is an Amereican Sport and Toyotas should only be in Drifts and foreign races. And it should be the other way too, American and European cars shouldn't be allowed to race in Drift compititions, the art of Drifting started in Japan. I would say that Toyota can beat American cars though. :)

No way - NASCAR is one of the few things left that are truly American..Although drivers will have sponsors of companies outside of the U.S., Toyota cars don't belong on the circuit. The origins of NASCAR began with running booze back during prohibition. What Toyota had to do with that I'll never know. Keep 'em out!

Toyota wanted in. They paid a lot of money and built a car that met NASCAR rules. BMW and Jaguar didn't want in or to spend the money. Dodge and Ford do compete. Dodges problem is they only have 1 team. With less cars to get data from you have a harder time being competitive in such a fast changing sport. Ford just got behind but towards the end of the year they were doing much better.

In answer to the second part of your question, no. Want proof? take a look at the standings in F1 racing, not the same type of car i'll agree, but the only thing Toyota are good for is reliablity, and out pacing the competition hasn't worked at all for them. Every other car maker, Honda included, has engineering finesse, all toyota seem to be good for is engines and where aerodynamics are concenrned they fall well short of the mark.

yes, but joining the nascar circuit is the last thing toyota wants to do. toyota is on a totatlly differnent level then that, above that. toyota joinig nascar would be like giving a rich golfer a mullet. toyota is in indy though, and ford chevy or dodge could join that but too bad they couldn't even figure out the technolgy even if they try.
To the guy below me... i thought you could read between the line but i guess not, so i type it out. It's the last things they want to be a part of because it's indynifying, but ofcourse money makes the world go round. so key word there is MONEY. so toyota gives a little in order to get back alot. it's not like they are bringing over japanese guys to race, they are just giving away the name and brand.

NASCAR is the most rediculously stupid thing on the planet. The only people who want to sit around and watch the same exact car go round and round and round on a dam oval track is a lazy, fat, redneck bubba, bubbette, and the little bubs. Toyota is EXTREMELY better than American cars in every sence of the world, and there's no way any of your american cars could take a race against them. So stop spanking your uninformed monkeys off on american **** cars and take the time to learn that, My God, there is something better!

Yes, Toyota is the best automobile manufacturer in the world, and they should be allowed to compete.
They will definitely give the American cars a run for their money.
