Long distance analyses is difficult at best, there is most likely something else going on that you haven’t related or don’t see. However, in general, when the dog wants our and goes to the wrong door, put the leash on the dog, have the dog sit and then go to a heel to the back dog, have the dog sit and then reward the dog (with voice, rubbing the chest, and even a treat). Open the back door and let the dog out. You go with the dog and when he goes potty, reward the dog again.

Did you train him when he was smaller to go to the front door to go potty? Maybe something bad is in the backyard? Are there kids back there near the fence that could bother him? Rabbits that could have kicked him (sounds weird but it just happened to a friends dog and he won't go near the bushes now). Are there squirrels, anything you can think of? Try not using the word no and maybe going outside with your dog and praising him when he goes to the back door. Or if he steadfastly refuses to go to the back door, try going out the front door and lead him to the fenced in back yard until he gets used to it and then go in through the back door. Eventually maybe he'll get used to it and start going to the back door. Good luck.

When he wants to go out put him on a leash and take him where you want him to go. When he does his business praise him and take him back in. Soon he should ask to go out the back.

Remember, you are in charge and the dog is NOT in charge. Make him do what you want and praise him a lot. Dogs like to please, so if he knows you're happy he will continue to do what you want.
