It should be running it's course any day. Poor baby. I know a runny/congested nose can make them feel so bad and keep mom on her toes wiping his little nose! The bad thing about virus's is that they can't be treated with an antibiotic and get better faster. Have your tried elevating the head of his bed so that his nose and head will drain at night? A pillow the mattress always helped my little ones. Be sure that there isn't space between the mattress and crib sides after you do this. You don't want him getting stuck if he rolls over. Also, keep sucking the mucus out of his nose will get rid of it faster than just letting it drip out.
Good luck. Been there, done that, and I know how you feel!

Viral upper respiratory infections (colds) usually last 7-10 days. Try elevating the head of the bed a little at night (this will help the night time congestion) and run a vaporizer or humidifier in the room at night. With time it should get better. If there is no improvement by the end of the week, call the doctor again.

First, try tylenol cold and flu to help him sleep at night. And during the day use the nasal suchtion thingy. My daughter had a cold for about 3 weeks when she was 4 months, but she was fine.
