there is nothing called the hardest bone. All bones are made up of the same calcium and phosphorus content. the hardness depends mainly upon the age.

Actually is the Temporal Bone, where the Auditive System is located.

The auditory system of mammals is housed in a labyrinthic foramen deeply embedded in the temporal bone, the hardest and most complex bone of the skull.
