'5 Hour Melty Chicken'...Mmmm.
Get any old chicken, place on a big piece of aluminium foil, season with salt and pepper. Chop an onion and some garlic. Put some inside and the rest outside the chicken. Make a parcel with the foil, not too tight. Put the whole thing on a baking dish in the oven. Cook for 5 hours at 150 centigrade. Use the juices that come out as a basis for a fab gravy...I add lemon juice, soy sauce and redcurrant jelly. Enjoy.

It sounds good. But to answer your question - in my opinion, no!

My recipe is somewhat similar in that it involves cooking the chicken very slowly for about 3 hours. It's called "Chicken with 40 cloves of garlic".

1 Chicken and a stove top pot or saucepan which it will fit in. I use a pressure cooker without any weights, so there is no pressure.

40 cloves of garlic peeled and whole

Salt and pepper to taste

Place the 40 cloves of garlic in the bottom of the pan and place the chicken on top. Sprinkle about 1/2 tsp salt and 5 or 6 screws of pepper (fresh from a pepper mill, of course) onto the breast of the chicken. Note that there is no liquid. The gravy will be pure chicken and garlic!

Cover and place on a VERY low heat on the top of the stove and allow to simmer for about 3 hours till the garlic is a liquid and the meat just falls off the bones.

You may think that this will be very garlicky but it isn't, owing, I think, to the long cooking time.

I don't make any claims for this one being the 'best ever', either but it's certainly a good one, easy to do and very healthy and delicious!

sounds delish - will give it a try.
one of my simple faves is to stuff the chicken with a quartered onion and a quartered lemon. Scrummy.
