They are using a flawed system to determine your level of involvement. they don't have the first clue what love is all about and they play silly games to see how you react which they think gives them an idea of where you are at. they are their own worst enemy though. making you jealous works against them in the long run. the idea is to make you feel insecure , you will seek security in them, but when you do, it weakens their respect for you. nothing like an insecure guy to turn them off.

It's called love and wanting reassurance that they are. It's just human nature. Women are no different than men in that dept. When you love, you can't help what you feel and the need to know that you're the only one in each others lives. Especially when you don't see one another ........:(
