One of my cats was at the vet for two days. Since she has returned, one of my other cats that really got along with her before the vet visit (sleep next to each other, lick her, etc) seems to hate her now.

He will hiss and growl any time he is near her. Why is he doing this? Will things go back to normal?

My suggestion is that you don't worry about it too much. Your cat returning from the vet probably smells quite strange, and is covered in dog and weird-people odors to your other cat. They will be fine if you just give them a few days. Your house-bound cat will soon realize that nothing has changed, and that your vet-visiting cat is still the same old friend from before.

I have 4 cats and I've had the same problem. I believe it is from the different smell that they have aquired from being at the vet. The bad attitude doesn't last for very long (maybe a day or two), so things should be back to normal soon.

It is most likely a temporary thing. The cat at the vet's probably picked up odors that are offensive to the other cat. The problem should pass in a few days.

She smells like the vet - disinfectant, etc. My gang did that as well. Give her a couple of days to clean the smell out of her fur & sort out with the rest of your cats. It will be fine.

i went through this with my cats. i think its the smell of the vets. it took a little while but, my cats did go back to the way they were before. just give it time. my cats were pretty close as well. so, don't panic. just give it a little time.

chances are you cat has picked up a scent in her coat of other cats, Your male smells this and his primal instincts take over. not to worry things will get better once kitties coat looses the odor that is upsetting your male.
I've gone through the same problem with my cats.

ptsd.. post traumatic stress disorder..
all animals have a natural response to stressful situations.. your cat is freaked out at the moment.. it should return to normal as it figures out that the surrounding situation is returning to normal.. if not... feed it to the neighbors dog..
