if you know html then the best free html editor is http://www.chami.com/html-kit

if you don't know html then macromedia dreamweaver is the only way to go worth mentioning. but it isn't free

frontrage (frontpage) is the second worst crap you can get. it uses way too many subdirectories that newbies don't understand. it has builtin wizards for forms that only work on msn etc. some of the coding it uses will only be displayed by internet explorer

nyu is the opposite of front page. it is gecko browser based. this means it will use coding that will work great with all browsers except internet explorer.

amaya is crap. it's the test bed used by the w3c to test html, xhtml, css and is the worst crap you can get. even though they test these things in it half of it doesn't work right.

netsacpe composer shouldn't be used by anyone. netscape is obsolete. why do you think they rewrote it to come up with mozilla firefox?

trust me no one in their right mind uses netscape anymore. it had it's time back in the 90's. now internet explorer rules. but soon firefox will rule.

don't take my word for it. ask any expert

personally i don't use a html editor at all. i open windows wordpad and click on FILE/NEW then Text Document to write my pages.

if you use an html editor then you can only use a computer that one is installed on. windows wordpad is on all pcs with windows.

I have worked on both MS front page and ADOBE ( formerly macromedia) Dreamweaver , What's good about dreamweaver is that it supports opensource codes unlike MS Front Page. Moreover dreamweaver has a pool of products which help designer work with server side programing which they might have not even seen before only with the help of GUI models.

And it's the same case with the developer that they can work on design issues like adding Video and flash with few simple clicks.as these codes are really new by adobe ,,,,

Depends... on what you're trying to do and your skill level. it's been a very long time since I used any,but i generally agree with the first two answers. I have to say though, if you are a beginner and don't really know what you're doing yet, frontpage sure makes it easy to learn...

I would say Dreamweaver. DEFINITELY NOT FrontPage.

Personally, I prefer notepad.
