i am a christian teen. yesterday two of my hindu frnds turned up. one of them asked the other 'what's da vinci code all abt?'. She replied, 'bombardment on christendom!'. i objected saying tht i'd read the buk and didn't find it blasphemous n it was gud that it threw lite on the human nature of christ. however, the one who's read it is clueless. she is an avid buk reader n read it only bcoz of the bestseller tag. she hasn't understood it. i told her that before reading it u shud kno the bible. actually she doesn't even kno who is jesus n mary magdalene. after reading this buk she's having all wrong notions abt christ, that he was only a man. she doesn't kno tht he was THE SON OF GOD who came to earth as MAN.
my hindu frnd just regard mary magdalene as a prostitute. she doesn't kno tat she had a conversion when she came under the influence of jesus.
what shud be told to such ppl of diff religions?
da vinci code thru no light at the REAL WORK done by the church today, the charity, etc

1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one...

1 John 5:8
And there are three that bear witness in earth the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

If truth be told --REGARDLESS of the book's authenticity or lack of it-- and one keeps an open, objective mind for the sake of discussion, the book in fact makes a frontal attack at Christendom [more pointedly at the Roman Catholic Church] for its "hidden agenda" in obfuscating the contents of the Bible from the get go.

The main reason for its perceived CONTROVERSY is that it is vehemently being opposed and debunked by the Church, which in turn adds impetus to its rise in the Bestseller's list, with over 40 million hardcover copies already sold today to back it up solidly in top place. This fact cannot be denied, let's face it!

Having said that, you really can't blame other people, especially the non-Christians or those without sufficient background, for having such an editorialized reaction to it. They are merely expressing what they got out of the book.

I suggest that you take it with a grain of salt, is all... Then hand them a copy of the Bible to read as well.

Peace be with you!

Here are a couple of links for you. There are some things that are misunderstood about Dan Brown's book, and that is covered in the second link. The first is overall, a link to a bunch of DaVinci Code - related links. Link #3 is about the "80 Lost Gospels."

Nothing real long here. And the second one you can get a pdf to print for your friends.

If only people took the Bible as seriously as this work of fiction!
Nothing to decode in there!

let them think what they want. Is there some sort of Hindu comic book story that is as ridiculous factually as DaVinci Code? If so - ask them if they think that's real, and they might get a better perspective. Blessings!
