To me if you want to find a gentlemen you have watch for the ones that act like one first. Not the ones that you are with first because they can turn out acting like pigs. I am a 54 year old male and I had a father that treated females as toys and he was a gentlemen when he wanted something and when he got what he wanted. He turned into a real jerk toward women and my mother could tell you that if she was alive. I have also meet women that have acted the same way and the could get a TONY award for being the best actress. I have been with a few women in my life time and when they left I always made sure that they were better off then they were when we started. The lady that I am with now asked me to marry her and I said no at first because I didn't want to get hurt again and again. Her husband had passed Way and he was a jerk to her and I didn't like him and I asked her mother in law what she thought and she told me that I was the best person for her. We have 5 kids together and 8 grand kids together, So what I'm saying is this is we have never in the 4 years of being together have never had bad words or any type of a dis agreement. First find in your heart what you are looking for and never judge that book by the cover and make sure you read the whole book. Good luck in finding some one and that is what my wife says any how.

The guys here in the States have absolutely no bloody idea what chivalry means nor what manners are..I may be from a so called " 3rd World or better yet a Developing Country" but I can safely say I know how to treat a woman and let her feel like a lady. And not to mention respect for elders and fellow Man.
And by the way ladies there are Millions of us where I come from...enjoy the X-Box playin, Makky-D guzzlin, methane producin, Bad shaggin, Ill Mannered, Foul Mouthed juveniles you call Men!

LOL..I feel so sorry for you all..they have seemed to rubbed off on thier ladies too.. you have no choice but to join them cause you certainly can't beat them.

I Bid you a good day Madam

I keep banging on about this on this forum (so sorry!) but truly, if you want to make a man behave like a Gentleman behave like a Lady! My husband wouldn't dream of preceding me through a door, or not standing when I enter a room or leave a table. Nor would the male members of my family, my Colleagues or my male friends. We were brought up like this. Equally, I would never behave badly in public, be rude or ungratious. I don't live in the Twilight zone! I am a professional woman who could never be described as subservient but good manners are expected here in Southern England.

i have seen a lot of gentlemen (THANK YOU), but i have seen more guys that were not gentlemen.

i am handicap, i have to use the public transit, fortunately i am in a wheelchair and guaranteed a seat on the bus, but i have seen elderly folks with canes, handicap with crutches, general public with crutches due to broke leg, pregnant women and no one will offer them their seat. we do need more gentlemen here in the states.

once i seen an elderly man give up his seat on the bus to a pregnant woman. and he could hardly stand steady in the first place, but he was a gentlemen toward this young lady.

I open the door for my girl, i respect my elders (sir and mam) i give up my seat for elder women and some elder men( like if they have a cane or walker) i give up my seat for pregnant chicks and there are many others out there like me so quit stereotyping us guys.

I have just copied that and emailed it to some friends. I hastened to add that not all teenagers are rude, a lot of adults and old people are also. My Husband held the door open in a restaurant as we were leaving. Other people were entering. Normally someone else will take the door from you. TEN people walked through that door as my Husband held it open and not ONE said Thank you. I am not going to tell you what I said in a very loud voice because it was (I am ashamed to say) VERY RUDE...I shall never go to heaven <(*>*)

I was on a streetcar this weekend, and there was an elderly lady who's hands were shaking (she was quite old). Only after 3 stops did someone give her his seat... I was outraged.
I didn't have a seat, or I would have given it to her right away.

I'm one of them. And opening doors for women, and standing up when she has to leave the table, etc. I'm totally awesome! And modest too. ;)
