No, you don't sound stupid. Many people are under the false impression a neutered male has no interest in having sex. Untrue. When neutered the have their testicles removed , not their penis. They can and do still have sex, cats and dogs. But without testicles they don't make babies which is a good thing.

Thats odd, when a cat is neutered, the testicles are removed, which is the source of sex hormones. Thus making the cat not want to have sex. Animals do not have sex for recreation as humans do. They only do it to procriate. There is another proceedure which is a vasectomy. While a vasectomy renders a male cat sterile, it does not affect testosterone levels as long as the spermatic artery is kept intact. A vasectomized cat, in other words, can mate, but cannot father kittens. This procedure is rarely used for domestic male cats, because a vasectomized male cat would still have territorial issues, still perhaps be prone to fighting other cats to protect that territory, still wander and try to get outside in search of a mate, and still spray urine that has a very strong odor. Vasectomy is still a valid alternative for population control in feral cat colonies, however.

People just don`t realize how important it is to neuter or spay their animals. Besides that two females hardly ever get along and two males hardly ever get along. The best combo Is a spayed female and a neutered male. I had two females that fought. When I finally got a male and a female both fixed, wow. They never fought . They respected each other. Also it`s up to the owner to teach them how to get along. If they did try to fight it`s up to the owner to make the proper correction. There is a lot of training involved. They say there are no untrained pets, just untrained owners. I don`t think 7yrs is too old,as long as the dog is in good health. All surgeries are dangerous. It`s easier to neuter a male than to spay a female/ The female has to have her abdomen cut open and have a bunch of stuff removed. A male just has ti have his scrotum cut open and get his balls removed.

THEY DO NOT REMOVE THE PENIS!!!!!!! So he still has his "thing"!!! No testicles, but still has a penis!!!
Please get the female cat fixed. Everyone says they don't need to because the cat doesn't get out. But accidents happen all the time!! It will be better for both of them!! If she doesn't come into heat, he will not try to breed her.

My cats (a male and female) were both fixed and the male tried to do the deed with her all her life. She didn't want any part of it though, lol

When they neutured him they did not cut off his penis. They remove the testicals instead. He shouldn't really have the urge. I think that if the female was fixed as well then they wouldn't do it anymore. Good luck.

Just because the cat is neutered, doesn't mean he doesn't still have a penis.
I am a breeder....tell Mom they will still have intercourse. It is nature.
If a man has been "fixed" he still has a penis and intercourse.
