I know personally that I read the Bible because I gain knowledge from each time I open it. God is Truth. The word of God is Truth. By gaining an understanding of the Bible and reading it, we can use that in our daily lives to defeat Satan. We can also use passages that we read to apply to our daily lives. On how to live and etc.

People do Read the Bible because it is the Book of Almighty God (Allah) and revealed on Prophet (Jesus Christ).
But There are alot of Versions of Bible which book we say right or Wrong. Truly it is not complete Word of God it is the Mixture of Truth and lies and we Should not react upon the bible that what is in it is right.
we have find the True and right Book and the Way of Almighty God (Allah) The Final revelation The Qur'an and Revealed on The Last and Final Prophet Muahmmad Sallal laaho Alaihi wasallam

In my experience, Christians read the Bible to become closer to God. I have seen this turn around depression, as if believing in a Higher Being is enough to make you happy. I am not sure if it by itself can make one happy. Other people may read the Bible to understand the Christian faith, or to be enlightened.

I like to read the bible coz some time God can speak to you through the rhema words. God can speak to you personally through the bible. I remembered there was once i have to resign from a job and in my desperation i accepted a job with lesser salary. I wasnt happy. Until one day I asked God to bless me financially. He spoke to me through his word that financially i will be restored (if not better) through the book of Isaiah. I can't remember the verses now but the prayer was answered half a year later.

They do for various reasons. Some do because they are brought up in that tradition. Some others do it as a ritual. Some do read it to find out what it says about God and man. There are also people who read it to find points to refute and disprove.
But for those who know God through Jesus Christ, it is like a channel of communication between them and God. He speaks to us through His Word, the Bible. It is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. It is the Word of Truth. Jesus said to the people who believed in him, "You are truly my disciples if you keep obeying my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:32)

I read the bible because it is a way to get to know God and what He expects of me. I love the Old Testiment because it is proof that real people with imperfect lives still have a place in God's kingdom and that it's all about God and not about us.

The Bible is, at the very least, an ancient collection of writings.
People read it for its historical value, for comparison, for spiritual enlightenment, as a religious duty, and for comfort.

It is a good book to read with lots of good advise that is still practical today.
It is uplifting when you are depressed.
It is good to read if you are having a hard time falling asleep.
There is a lot of good history in it that tells you where Christianity came from and how people lived when that specific book was written.

For various reasons. One is to know what the word says so they will not be deceived by the devil. So they will know how to live a holy life. Or even to know how to live a practical life. A good example is in finances and another is in choosing a Godly woman or man to marry.
There are more reasons than what I mentioned.
