I work at a check cashing and payday loan company and people come in about 2 times a week with this situation. Basically what happens is this: if you reply, they will contact you by email and give you a phone number to call or ask for your address. After this, they will most likely send you a fraudulent check for around $8,000 in the mail.
The scam is that you cash the check, they tell you to keep about $2,000 for yourself and then send the remainder to them via Western Union (being that once the money is sent, most times it is gone forever). Then, once the money is sent and the place you cashed the check informs you the check is bad, you're stuck for about $6,000. They do this to hundreds of people and the profits are astronomical. They are playing on the most infantile of human emotions - the get rich quick scheme.
So, bottom line is this: it is absolutely a scam and you should never contact someone you have never met in your life asking about a huge lottery or prize.

Most likely a scam.
If you have not purchased a ticket you cannot have won.!
If you are asked to put some cash up front for any reason whatsover then it really is a scam.
If you can take the 2.1 million without parting with any money or giving your bank account details then do so but be very careful !!!

the best thing you do is to have it check by a professional on that matter. by the way, did you join any particular lottery.. if thats the case there is a possibility that you really won. still be sure because that can also be a scam.

I have rcvd many of these notices simply reply to them to pt up all cash upfront required and when your million dollar check clears you will kindly send them a few 100 thousand dollars. If the check comes and clears sh*t send them the cash. Remember never provide bank info or any personal information to them.

Absolutely. So are any e-mails telling you a distant relative died in some third world country and left you millions.
These are all old scams.

of course it's a scam. Did you enter anything? Did you take a survey saying that you may win something? Ask yourself these questions and you'll answer your own question.
