some say: "fear is the opposite of faith"
god doesn't want us scared of him
my god is a loving god
All we need do is learn how to let go of our fear, for fear maintains the barriers of separation.

It's not the same type of fear, it is the humility, awe, and respectfulness. A fear of being seperated from God, how many times have you looked at a love one and thought I don't ever wanna lose you? It's that type of fear they are talking about.

"Fear" is a mistranslation in most English Bibles. The original language says "revere", which has a very different meaning. Instead of being afraid, approach God with reverence - appreciation and respect. Your relationship will quickly change.

The phrase fear God means to have awe, respect, and reverence for Him. For it was the apostle John I believe who said that perfect love drives away all fear (as in being afraid).

Fear is a term that a bible thumper came up with. Please, do not believe that Your Creator wants you to fear Your creator. Your Creator is very personal, only to You, and I doubt that Your Creator would ever want you to fear anything at all that Your Creator has placed upon the same plane with You. That would be like putting a small child in a yard with a mean dog. Know what I mean? (((Sheri)))

You can't. It is easier to pass an elephant through the eye of a needle than for a good Christian to not fear God.

I think the meaning of the word "fear" in that context means to have the utmost respect and reverence for God. Believe each day. Practice each day. Draw nearer to God each day... And through him, know that you can accomplish great things...

When the Bible says to fear God, what it means is that you have a fear if displeasing him. If you love someone so much, you absolutely hate to upset them or make them unhappy. Our love for God motivates us to do our upmost to please him and do our best to keep from making his heart sad. -See Psalm 2:11
See Proverbs 27:11 and Psalm 78:41
