Were we born to just grow up, go to school, get a job and work and make money. And then just use that money to buy things, to create some illusion that blinds us from the fact that our lives really don't mean much at all. Of course, we then get married, well some of us. Are they considered the lucky ones? Who knows. But is our entire purpose as human beings just to do this, and then have children. Then by the process we are to help the children do the exact same thing. I am a college student, just finished my first year, and I don't know what I am going to major in. I want to mean something in the world. I don't want to just make money and spend it. But the more I look into how the world works, what every job entails, the more I believe that all there can be to life is the cycle I mentioned above. But I can't see myself being happy that way.Everyday I feel more and more like life is pretty pointless. What do you guys think about this? Don't you ever think about this stuff? Am I wierd?

That's how it is... that's why there's religion.... so people can believe there's a reason they're here.

I don't think life is pointless - I guess it's all in how you see it. I don't think you are weird, either. You are looking at our cycle of life and how you want to fit into it. There is nothing wrong with really wanting to do something with your life, rather than just get a job and spend the money from the great job you get.
There are tons of things you can do to really better the world - you can get a job in the medical field as a doctor, or even as a lawyer - there are tons of people that need low cost/no cost medical care and law help. You just have to figure out what your passion is and then use it to help people and give something to society.

Nope, not weird at all. You have a pretty good observation as to one aspect of life my brother. I did say one, and that, being the physical. Money, spouse, school, children, house, car, etc. etc... all physical. As for the second aspect of life or let's say the part of life you don't pay attention to - which is the spiritual life. In order to understand what's really going on here you need to find any Bible based church, go in with an open mind, heart, and soul. Listen, listen some more and then listen very carefully. This will all take time but, I guarantee you that if you persevere with the teaching of ''God' in 'Christ'' - you will begin to see what others will never be allowed to see or comprehend. -Seek ye the Kingdom of Heaven!

Yeah, you are weird. Don't you realize that you are not supposed to be anything more than a robot who continues this vicious cycle. If you want to make a difference then go out and do it. That pointless life you are referring to is reserved for those who can't figure out what to do or are just too lazy to do it. Don't worry, its okay for you to step outside of the box and do something different. That other life was created so as to not have anyone feeling they are left out. Dare to be different.

i know exactly what you mean...i am also a college student and it scares me soooo bad to think that anything i do won't matter bc i'm just gonna die anyway.....about your major, if you really want to make a difference you should be a teacher. they don't get paid that much, but they change the world everyday. good luck, and you're not wierd.
