It's part of human nature to require a reason for everything. Most people's concept of God and the greater part of most religious texts and mythology and folklore is due to the inbuilt human desire to demand an answer to Why?

If we are talking about our own actions, there is a reason for doing most of them but it's often not the reason we attribute to them after the event (or before). If you ask someone why they smoke or why they hate someone, you will probably get a quite different answer to the one a trained psychologist would give you.

As far as natural events go, most things happen for a reason (or really a chain of reasons) which is based on natural 'laws' such as, for example the 'Law' of Gravity. Notice that we call them 'laws', whereas they are not really laws such as humans make.

Beyond all of this, there is the operation of chaos or randomness.

To an extent, yes, I think things happen for a reason, but as to whether things are pre-destined or not, I'm really not so sure.

I think that we can sub-consciously "make" things happen, that is, it is we ourselves who guide our own destiny whether consciously or otherwise.

That said, I do believe that God is there working in the background shaping things little by little - if anyone watches Futurama, they'll recognise what I'm about to say...

"When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."

No, I believe that a lot of things happen for a reason, but not everything. Is what I ate for breakfast part of a divine plan? - i doubt it

In my opinion, everything does happen for a reason. In my experience, it seems that life has a way of working things out when they seem hopeless.

Yes and we create these reasons. Everything happens because of a cause. We reap what we sow.

If things don't happen for a reason, then it happened for fun... which is also a reason.

So... there you go... "Everyhing happens for a reason"

In my experience, they always do. Otherwise I wouldn't have a good day, and my good day is always a result of having bad days that apparently "Happens for a reason"

YES most deffinately
At its most microscopic level, everything is pure energy. This energy interacts. Situations that occur in our lives either bring joy and happiness or they bring challenges that we can choose to grow spiritualy from, which will in turn bring joy and happiness!
It is when we do not receive the lesson and grow , that situations retun to us in the form of repeating patterns in our lives!
