Nirvana is a state where one is in hormony with the universe. He is not a separate entity. Physically, he is different. But, by his being, he is in commune with the universe or it can be termed as existence. There is no two extremes for him...Good/Bad, Beauty/Ugly, Like/Dislike, God/Evil, etc. etc...
So, for a person who attained Nirvana, there is nothing. His life will have emptyness. The other side of this emptyness will be filled with love.
To attain this state, there is only one possibility available in this universe. That is meditation.
Unfortunately, so many stupids teaches meditations, the way they have understood. So, many people fail.
Luckyly, we have a Master, OSHO, who has left a fortune for us. His way of teachings and meditaion practices, makes us live both in materialistic world and spiritual world. Whereas in other practices it is not possible. Quiting the materialistic world is not needed, isn't it?

Nirvana is exemption to the soul for taking another birth(obtaining another body) after death. It is said this can happen only if all the desires in this life are ended, and no such acts good are bad are in balance by the time of death,to take reward of which another birth may be necessary. So Nirvana can be obtained by 'Akarmas" and ending all desires..This is what i could recal at this time ,if you come across better answer pl let me know. This very act of taking part in this yahoo answer is like Akarma

You can attain Nirvana by spiritually advancing through all your lifetimes, ending with a positive balance of Karma and achieving Enlightenment. That's all there is to it.

Well I'm of the Christian faith so I don't believe in such things, but Nirvana is what most Buddhists try to achieve. Most of them fail (actually all of them do!!!) They believe that they all life is unsatisfactory because everything is changing and that the only way to end craving and desire is to follow the "Noble Eightfold Path" (Right Intention, Right Way, Right Livelihood, Right Speech etc..)

Everybody is part of the whole of creation, as we move towards 2012, we are called to assist the ascension of this planet towards Nirvana. Every role is different but has its perfect time and place. The key is to lift up our resonance, to tap into the higher collective consciousness.
If you want to know your role within this then meditate, daily. This will not only lift your vibrations but will allow you to connect to your higher self.
